Because every album after that is just boring. My Arms Your Hearse is ok, but thats about it. Everything they released after is drab sounding and vapid chord progressions that sound the same. Morningrise and Orchid outshine anything else they've done, riff wise, atmosphere, song writing, and the music as a whole.

I think it's a common thing around here lately that since Opeth have become popular they are looked down upon. Thinking Orchid is their best album is just acinine. Orchid is by far their weakest and most boring. BWP and Still Life are masterpieces.

I don't look down upon Opeth because they're popular, I look down on them because everything after Morningrise is shit. Look, Morningrise is in my top 5 favourite albums with ease, but their new stuff is complete shit. Being popular has nothing to do with it. I really enjoy Tool, who are more popular than Opeth, and I don't look down on them at all.

Even Mikael despises Orchid and was quoted saying that the style that was played on Orchid was played out and it was time for them to progress. He really hates playing those songs live. I dont know how you can't listen to songs like Faces of Melinda and not get any emotion out of it.
