2008 AFL Thread

I read a press release a few days ago from the disney corporation stating they neither indorce of intend to watch the AFL dreamteam match!

but I can be sure of one thing, the melbourne press will talk it up, there will be 12 pages of coverage in the paper tomorrow - ranging in coments from the coach to the bloke who cuts the ankle tape, begging for a return of state of origin footy in the AFL

State of Origin used to be great until they introduced the bloody Allies in the mid 1990s so they could include people from the minor footballing states. Victoria v South Australia games were huge, especially the one at the MCG in 1989, where I was one of over 90,000 in attendance.

I'm not sure what Brian is laughing at.. 69,000 in attendance on a cold winter Saturday night? That's not bad. Personally, I think the league should be less ambitious 'next time', holding it at Telstra Dome and guaranteeing themselves a sellout.

And the first story I found on afl.com.au was one saying exactly that. That's what I was laughing at.

I don't have an issue with AFL rep games, it's just that the one last night didn't seem to be generating much excitement from the crowd, so far as I could tell from watching it on TV. There were some pretty awesome marks and goals in it though. Also, what was the deal with putting a camera on the umpire's shoulder?

I think umpire shoulder cam died right before your eyes, thankfully. I had a quick look at the game and even at a glance you could tell it wasn't played the same as every other round. Or was it a case that the players were indeed so good that they just outclassed each other?:err:

Hey Winmar, how are you doing?

Awesome, thanks Winmar. How are you doing?

I just told you, but I don't mind you asking me again. I'm awesome. Thanks for asking, Winmar.

Right, I'm off to find someone else to talk to.
