You realize that all the bitching around these awards has not only made a travesty of the whole institution, but it also defeats the whole purpose of them.

What's the purpose of having the awards if they are just a few of the ones most generic, and uninteresting to the majority of the forum's posters...where's the fun in that? Which really, isn't that the purpose - entertainment and fun?

I'd have to agree with this. I don't care if I win awards, but I think it's fun to have them and I'd enjoy it if people thought I was good enough to win them. This is the Social forum, and part of being social means engaging in group activities as friends. Grow up already.

I'm for the Best Female Member award if there's also a Best Male Member award, and I support all of the serious suggestions in this thread so far aside from the one about facial hair.
