I don't really see that any Tom, Dick, or Harry can hold the office of President. It really comes down to how much smoke you can blow up the public's collective bung holes. It is the wise voter who can see through that smoke, in my mind. Though I hold myself between Traditionalist and Conservative, my vote is against Obama rather than for McCain. That could be a poor way of looking at things, but at the same time it is my best means of expressing my opinion. Obama's severe leftist look at the world coupled with the inept performance of the not-quite-so-left Reid and Pelosi spell absolute trouble (and, in my mind, terror) for this country.

Per Strauss and Howe, we are definitely turning from a sizable Unraveling into what may be the scariest, costliest Crisis in any history, let alone ours. The next 20 years will be absolutely critical to our country's history. If we elect the wrong leader, that crisis can be absolutely punishing to us and our offspring. I see Obama as that wrong leader. His economic socialism will lead us to a full-on depression, and history has shown the typical end to such an era.

Now, I'm supposed to find a way to mentor your generation (those currently under 30, that is) to be our saviors. That seems quite tough in my mind, but I do realize there is a very large generation gap (more like a chasm) to deal with, understand, and overcome. I'm working on that...

And, Marwen, it's still there on your sig. Every time I look at it... marwen enema.com.

According to the constitution, any Tom Dick or Harry is legally entitled to hold the position. "Experience" has proven to be an unreliable measure of capability. There have been presidents of experience who have been excellent leaders. There have been inexperienced, similarly excellent leaders. There have also been dipshits both experienced and not. Therefore, the argument is not for inexperience but against the validity of experience as a guage of capability. Understand this the 4th time?

Circle jerk. An individual with 0 experience has absolutely no chance of getting the job...yours is a moot point. End of discussion.

PS I actually really like your signature. No sarcasm.

Special for you BHO koolaid drinkers. ;)

You make it sound like his only experience is his 3+ years in the Senate. He was also a law professor, attorney, state legislator for 3 terms, and community organizer

My mom is a community organizer...she'll tell you real quick that's not a qualifier. The less attornies we have involved in government the better. He's pretty much been an absentee Senator due to campaigning for the presidency for most of his tenure.

Again he is under-qualified. He definitely hasn't helped Chicago & Illinois any.

Body count. In the last six months 292 killed (murdered) in Chicago, 221 killed in Iraq.

Sens. Barack Obama & Dick Durbin, Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., Gov. Rod Blogojevich, House leader Mike Madigan, Atty. Gen. Lisa Madigan, Mayor Richard Daley.....our leadership in Illinois.....all Democrats. Thank you for the combat zone in Chicago. Of course they're all blaming each other. Can't blame Republicans, there aren't any!

State pension fund $44 Billion in debt, worst in country.

Cook County(Chicago) sales tax 10.25% highest in country.

Chicago school system one of the worst in country.

But the state does have a really neat 3 million dollar projector that BHO earmarked for them.

This is the political culture that Obama comes from in Illinois & would bring to the presidency.

Yeah, give *ME* a fucking break. What irritates you about those numbers/degrees? Could YOU pass through the US Naval Academy?
Is it Palin's choice of study, or # of semesters? Is a physics or a law degree more important than a journalism degree? What really irritates me about your observations is that you are connecting class rank + type of degree to a person's ability to lead a country. A piece of "paper" with fancy calligraphy does not make a good leader, or a decent person. The lack of that piece of paper does not not disqualify a person from being a good person, or a good leader. Please correct me if I'm wrong about my assumptions here....

She majored in journalism and can't name a newspaper she reads? Jesus, she doesn't even know what vice president is actually supposed/able to do.

At this point the McCain campaign is just grasping at straws. Their numbers are in the crapper, maybe a shopping spree at Neiman Marcus will make them feel better

One of the site's I check that averages national polls has him with a 3.8% chance of winning; he just needs to win all of the toss up states and close a 10+% lead in Pennsylvania to flip it in to the Republican column.

It's not just that, it could just POSSIBLY be that enough people are pissed off sufficiently at the absolutely criminal level of intellect in that campaign. My fiance brought up an excellent point today... in America we have this word "overqualified." Why? Because being TOO smart threatens the penises of the whining morons. It is actually a detriment to one's chances at credibility to use proper diction and grammar. It is a detriment to speak positively of science. You are not to be an expert, you simply read the teleprompter and listen to your advisors, who follow a similar plan.

You might also find this British article interesting.

My friend Natalie in the UK found this one and I find it hits far too close to the target.

Best article on this issue I have ever read. I couldn't agree more with it. If you haven't read the Susan Jacoby book mentioned in there, do so!

In the words of George Carlin "People are fucking dumb. Pretty soon, all that will be required to get into a good college is a pencil. "Hey Timmy, is that a pencil? Good, get in the class, it's fucking physics""

That would be like saying, "I shoudl go to jail too because my neighbor was convicted of child pornography and he came over to dinner last night."

Yeah, the guilt-by-association arguments are ridiculous, you're right. What was I thinking?

Let's get back to the real issues like Bill Ayers and how Obama is a Marxist and elitist who hates small town folk.

Quite different in my book. I don't see that Palin is "palling" around with Stevens other than that they're in Alaska's government together. And she has publicly bashed him, and has been doing so for over a year (long before she came to national recognition in politics).

http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/08/29/1305615.aspx

Obama has close ties outside of politics withs Ayers and Wright, and now he's on video toasting Khalidi. What??? That is clear and simple association. One associates with those who share similar interests, and the small slips from Obama show his associations with each of these individuals is through similar interests. I don't see Palin's picture in any Stevens book lauding what a great, monumental work Stevens' book is.

Obama also used cocaine. I don't condemn him for that at all. I bring it up because in my mind I have Obama with sketchy associations and drug use - both show impaired sense of judgment. Those failures of judgment are absolutely glaring in my mind and I cannot put a person like that into the White House.
