Good article on this very topic in the new Foreign Policy.
I thought I heard somewhere on the news recently that Sadam's regime had tried to hunt down Bin Laden (considering that they are mortal enemies because of their religious views). Yet, Bush Junior decided it was a better idea to invade the strategic Middle Easter country and drive it into the ground, arresting the very guy who was trying to track down Bin Laden, and getting thousands of Americans killed.
Edit: yeah, I'm sick of hearing how first responders are such heroes. Come on folks, if they knew those buildings were going to collapse, they wouldn't have gone in. It's the first rule of rescue. The term "hero" gets thrown around waayyy too much these days. Shit, while I'm at it, just because people are in the military and are fighting in Iraq does not mean they are "defending America". I hear this on the news all the time (Fort Campbell morons). They're not doing shit for America except making the rest of the world hate us more and more.
