This argument is stupid. The only genres of metal are the core ones, Rabid Headbanger hit the nail on the head saying that metal is much more simplistic than a lot of you make it seem in some ways; Running Wild are heavy/speed metal, Amon Amarth are melodic death metal, Bathory has multiple styles, but his "Viking" era stuff is not "Viking metal". It fits accurately into the black or proto-folk metal styles.

Seriously... math metal is not a genre. I will listen to arguments for viking metal,even though I don't buy them, but math metal always can be reduced to technical _____ metal. There's no case where it can't be placed in another genre.
