About peter leaving....

Well it definetly looks that most of you except a few are even moroner than this guy... Of course his post is kinda weird but there's a way to tell
people that they are wrong without calling them Idiots, dumbass, loser, worst user ever. Man this forum is almost worst than them youtube comments which really sucks since it's the greatest band's forum...

lol any opeth fanboy knows that peter hasnt written shit really since still life, so like it would make a difference that they get an essentially better guitar player.
Exactly. Plus Watershed is clearly better than GR and imo Deliverance as well. Tbh imo Peter leaving the band should have happened earlier and Watershed clearly shows that. I do really like GR and Deliverance. But please Watershed is definitely the best album since bwp.

epic failure of a post. The new band members are as good or better then the previous. From what i've heard the new drum work and guitar work is outstanding.

Continue discussing the leaks and the band might just close the whole forum down. Actually, I'd be grateful cause I've only seen people spewing shit back and forth lately. It's either me getting old, or it's the new fad to call people morons and shitbags on the internet. Christ am I getting tired of this crap.

Know what I love?

I love when ignorant people jump on the internet and rant about something they know very little about, toss in much speculation and personal opinion for good measure, and completely ignore statements from the very people they're talking about. If why Peter left is a mystery to any of you, use the search function.

Thanks...and it took balls to write that. I would agree. This album after listening a few times is just obsurd, in comparison to ALL their other albums. I appreciate Opeth and its originality but this album is just dull. For instance, "heir apparent" is perfection but when the first Fredrik solo is played, I quickly am transported to the seventies :erk:

Something isn't right, and the album is frustrating to say the least, I HOPE that their next album will do something to redeem themselves :Smug:

Honestly I'm blaming this new album suckage on Peter leaving.
Everyone says he had to contribution to the writing process, but it even says on the Opeth site that Peter and Mike write music together. Honestly i dont think Opeth is the same without him and in a bad way.

Perosnally, when i member that writes music leaves the band, i think they should at least go in the studio with the band in the future and continue to write music. They dont have to tour or anyting. They should just help write, especially if them leaving tears the band's sound up. It would honestly take what, spending maybe a month with the band, and thats it? Half the band memebers that leave bands end up becoming producers so why the fuck dont they just come back to the band and help "produce". I wouldn't think ex-members would hate thier own band so much they dont want to ever have anything to do with it again.

Hopefully Mike finds some better people to write with in the future. Im sure even if Mike writes most of the stuff, im sure that having Peter to write with compared to someone new is a big change, especially because the guitarist used to play for a band that sounds nothing like Opeth and sound quite frankely very sucky. I personally halfway like "the lotus eater" but you gotta honestly sit back and look. It's a great metal song, but its not Opeth at all really, cept for the weird intramental parts.

I mean, the same exact song (at least the first few minutes) could have come from another band in my opinion. Heir Appearant is just too simple for them, and Porcelain Heart is a complete rip off of The Grand Conjuration no matter what anyone says. (3 songs ive heard).

Honestly, the only thing that seems still Opeth is soft vocals, and a good sense of rythem that most death metal bands dont have. Heir appearant doesnt have that normal good Opeth rythem tho, thats why it sucks to me. I love really rythmic death metal bands, to me it makes it sound more evil.
Like on Blackwater Park (the song). The part after the acoustic part with the dual growl and rythmic guitar theme. So evil, rythmic, and just perfect.

Heir Appearant was missing that sorta thing, and The Lotus Eater only had it for a little while. I also wonder if this is missing because of the new drummer.
Drumming add alot of rythem to the music that you dont sometimes notice till its gone. and Honestly i dont think alot of drummers are willing to add ryhtem to death metal. Only 2 examples of ones who do is Opeths old drummer and Dark Tranquillity's drummer.

Honestly, mike needs to at least get the old guys to come back in to at least help write =( or pick people that actually come from good bands that have Opeth like qualities. Like i could see someone from Dark Tranquillity going into Opeth, or someone from Killswitch Engage, or In Flames, or some unique type of band. But Arch Enemy? that band is so typical, and boring, and they sound just like what boring awful metal sounds liek, alot like Lamb Of God in my opinion.

X2

I think this album is great but this forum is ruined by the fanboy.

How are people juging the whole album when 2 songs / videos have been released.

but i agree something seems not quite right.

I would like to say I wish Peter all the best and hope oneday he makes music again.

Opeths loss in my opinion. Perhapse one day he could rejion and like iron maided opeth have 3 guitarists to make the music interweave even more than it does now. just think 2 rythmn guitars and a lead or dual lead like the old days and a rythmn part:headbang:

Mind explaining what exactly it is you mean by this? (The seventies remark)

Also, I would hope my unnecessary sarcasm (last post) wasn't interpreted as me agreeing with Taotrac... I'm rather pissed off about the few minutes of my life that were wasted reading that poorly written, ill-conceived, ignorant and ultimately idiotic essay you wrote there, nice work.

classic rock solos = dull and quite emabarassing for a progressive metal band

You're likening that first solo to classic rock solos? Nothing that menacing has ever come out of rock, and it's far from dull. I won't argue though, I think it's an excellent solo, you don't, who really gives a shit?

There is no discussion of leaks in this thread. Guy has listened only to live "Heir Apparent" and officially released "Porcelain Heart" and "The Lotus Eater".
