Because that's a completely different question than asking about perfect albums.

Many of my favorites have some sort of flaw, sometimes serious ones, but make up for it in other areas.

Ok..fair enough. There are a few different ways to boil and egg.

i take perfect as meaning that the band achieves everything that they design to. added to this is of course the necessity for the album to actually be brilliant, and without flaw in the ears of the listener. otherwise i'd be forced to say that some canibal corpse album is perfect. so in this context perfect albums would be:

Neurosis/ToN - Times of Grace/Grace
Neurosis - A Sun that Never Sets
Enslaved - Blodhemn
Enslaved - Mardraum
Absu - Tara
Summoning - Stronghold
ISIS - Oceanic
Frank Zappa - Hot Rats
Frank Zappa - One Size Fits All
Don Caballero - American Don
Alchemist - Organasm
At the Gates - WFIKtBD
GYBE! - Slow Riot For New Zero Kanada

this does not necessarily constitute my favourites list. for instance, my favourite Zappa album is Joes Garage, but it's not 'perfect,' like the two mentioned.

Amorphis-Am Universum, Tales...
Opeth-Blackwater Park, Still Life
Therion-Deggial, Vovin, Secret of my Runes
Dark Tranquility-Damage Done
In Flames-The Jester Race
Children of Bodom-Follow the Reaper
Soilwork-Natural Born Chaos,Predators Portrait
A Canarous Quintet-The Silence of the World Beyond
Kataklysm-Shadows and Dust
Bloodbath-Breeding Death
Borknagar-Empiricism
God Dethroned-Bloody Blasphemy
Hypocrisy-The 4th Demension
Satyricon-Volcano
Illdisposed-There is SomethingRotten...,Submit,Kokaniium,4 Depressive Seasons
Iced Earth-Something Wicked This Way Comes
Mythotyn-In The Sign of The Ravens
Gorefest-False

Don't think you can say that without explaining to us how you've heard it. :)

Not that I'm calling you a liar or anything, but I'm kinda surprised that you'd declare it a perfect album already...I mean, how many times do you claim to have heard it? I imagine an album would have to sit with me for MONTHS before I could imagine calling it perfect...

Perfect or Favorite?

Nothing is 100% perfect, as perfect is absolute. Therefore, my answer to the question as posed in none.

Even Ivory soap is only 99.99% pure.

Opeth - Blackwater Park
My second favorite Opeth album (MAYH being the first which I think suffers a bit from overall album completeness). This album is a correlation of everything Opeth has been about up until the point it was released. It won't get old

Emperor - Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk
I can't even explain this one.

Borknagar - Borknagar
If there is a benchmark for what I look for in a black metal album, this is it. Atmosphere, emotion, technicality, production, everything about this album is absolutely perfect.

Moonsorrow - Voimasta ja Kunniasta
The only bad thing about this album, is how fucking mad I am whenever it ends. It kicks your ass, and you really can't help but want more.

Dimmu Borgir - Stormblast
Despite some of Dimmu's flaws, this album is an utter classic. The production bothers some, but I don't believe it would be the same without it. Yet another black metal album that I place as a benchmark for what I believe to be truly stunning black metal.

Katatonia - Brave Murder Day
Arcturus - La Masquerade Infernale
Ulver - Kveldssanger
Dark Tranquillity - The Gallery
Summoning - Nightshade Forests
