Alec's Tavern : The Frost Blast

Today I finished 2 series: Mnemosyne and Vampire Princess Miyu (I saw this one long time ago, so I watched it again). About Miyu, You can see where Jigoku Shoujo came from just watching 2 ep :rofl:D... I guess it's hard to do something new these days.

Currently watching Darker than Black (well, when I find some free time to kill, since I'm recording an album with a new band and I'm doing a mini tour that finishes on 2 weeks).

Just started off with the Elfen Lied manga. I bought the first issue and well, it's really like the anime, which I loved. Or better the other way around: the anime is like the manga. Anyway, it's still great and I can hardly wait until the story after the part shown in the anime. So don't spoil! ;)

I found Gantz quite boring, can't help it...

Right now I am learning the Hiragana characters since from next term on I will be learning Japanese at the uni :)

@Defiance: I finished the anime, the manga seems to be ongoing, the same happens with Hajime No Ippo, Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas and Detective Conan (The manga is incredibly good compared with the anime, where the main plot was totally dismissed and filled with shit).

@Thidrek: The Gantz manga is 1000 better than the anime. Really. Elfen Lied manga is really awesome. You may notice a change on the drawing quality, since the mangaka was improving her skills while she was writing the story. The anime adaption is great but short compared with the manga length, so good luck :p

In Germany Elfen Lied is released in two-volumes, so that in the end there will only be 6 books. Gantz was cancelled after issue number 5 due to loss of success :/

The improvement of drawing quality can also be noticed in the Battle Angel Alita / Gunmu mangas, which are also veeery great. My favorite ones.

Yes, the final part will be released on October 1st, I can't wait! (Just look at the post with the Japanese characters :) ).

@ Thridek: がんばってね? Did you read my e-mail? I sent it some time ago :Smug: .

Done with darker than black, and a couple of movies /OVA's : Paprika (Perfect Blue's director) and Eternal Family.

Currently watching Blassreiter (1 ep daily, I'm so tired and I can't sleep more than 3 hours per day...yesterday I was mixing songs until 4:30am; at 7:00 I was already editing some other stuff)

i'm going to september fest tonight.
it's a german beer-festival, similar to october fest, which takes place in a city near to mine.
hordes of germans come here, bring german beer, food and music, stay for 15 days, and then they go back home :p

Sorry, I thought you didn't send me one. I felt almost a bit offended, lol. :D
Could you say me the topic or something? So I will search my spam folder/trash bin. I get so many shit every day so sometimes I delete important mails... -.-'

edit: I just found it!
Gonna reply shortly ^^

I'm the one who felt offended, I sent it more than a month ago! :yuk: Aber keine Sorgen, ja? :)

 I wish there was such a festival in Sweden. The beer here is utterly disappointing.

YES!!! I was so disappointed and frustrated when I went there. Where was all the good beer? Agh I wish it were like Belgium. I did enjoy the wide variety of sugar free pop though, Sweden has the largest selection in Europe I think :) .

i've never been to october fest, but i suppose this should be similar to october fest, also the name recalls the other.
yes it's very funny, good german beer, good fat german meat (shin of pig, wurstels ) and german people dressed in typical folkloristic dresses, drunk germans and drunk italians everywhere :)
the city from where those people come is Ingolstadt, in Bayern.

Hehe, sorry, but that is right... And expensive as fuck (may be one reason why there isn't such a fest in Sweden. The ocean might be another one ;))

I usually delete every mail by a person/website I don't know without even reading the title. I should chance this behaviour :D

Sweden has a really great range of food!

The Oktoberfest is way too expensive. One "Maß" (1l cup) costs between 7,50€ and 8€!
I've never been there either.

1 liter of beer costs 7 euro at the fest, which is not a high price considering our standards. if you go to a pub you won't pay less than 5 euro for a medium glass of beer, which is 40 cl :Smug:

Good beer is apparently just not a Swedish thing. Plus, the government has very tight control over alcohol, so local breweries and things like that are hard to come by. I don't know if you've ever been to a local brewery but there's a great restaurant in Madison, WI called The Great Dane, and they have excellent beer. To be honest, living in the midwest totally spoiled me. Thanks to our large and shared German heritage, we managed to get lots of good beer.

That said, apparently at the student pubs (specifically Norrland's student pub) at Uppsala University they have a ton of good beer on tap. That is pretty much just non-existent here. If you want good beer on tap (i.e., not Swedish beer) then you need to go to an Irish pub or Pipes of Scottland or things like that. Other than that it's fucking Spendrups, Falcon and Carlsberg (possibly the worst beer ever).

Yeah, beer is really expensive here unless you're a student. Drinking at a student pub is reasonable. But other than that, it's pretty crazy. Still, I consistently buy bottles of good beer at Systembolaget otherwise I will go insane.

Great range of food? ... Really? You know that there isn't a single Italian restaurant in Umeå? I mean, I know that I'm spoiled because I come from the US and we had the right kind of immigrants that Italian food became sort of a part of our national culture.. but seriously. Seriously. I feel like the range of food here is: from Kebab to Curry.

I spent a lot of time in Östersund and had some really nice beers from Jämtlands Bryggeriet just outside town in Pilgrimstad. I'm not sure about availabilty outside Jämtland, but these beers were readily available at Systembolaget in Östersund. I actually didn't mind a cold can of Spendrups, but it really does have to be cold. But I was getting 24 cans of Spendrups for 120 kr, which, when beer is as expensive as it is in Sweden, probably made it taste that little bit better. I also had a few nice dark ales at the pub, no idea what they were called though. So yeah, though it may be sparse, there is good beer in Sweden. :kickass:

Oh, WTF? When I've been to Italy, Alcohol seemed pretty cheap to me. Not in pubs, though, but in stores.

I've once paid 11€ (~$16) für 4 cans of this 3.5% water... :zombie:

But what I mean is the choice you have in supermarkets. Even in smaller towns there is a big range of different products.

You have to look up some smaller breweries, Spendrups and Falcon are like the Budweisers of Sweden, you know, so you can't judge Swedish beer by those two :) The reason they are so popular is probably that there's no alcohol culture in Sweden, i.e people in general only drink to get drunk, there's no "lets go grab a beer after work" culture.
Try beer from Jämtlands bryggeri as Disgustipated said, and from Slottskällan, Nils Oscar, Strömsholms or Borgholms bryggeri for example.
If you know what to look after, Swedish beer is pretty good actually.
I agree with you on the prices though, they are insane. People who live in Skåne often go to Denmark or all the way to Germany just to get cheap beer.

Hehe well you do have to read them before you delete them it's not like the title was "Try 100% free viagra" :lol". Should I send it again, then?

Yeah I noticed it was quite expensive too. Actually, what I remember from the karaoke metal in Stockholm was not the beer, but the excellent food they had! I had this delicious steak, hmmm now I'm craving for one :p .

Notice the "für" ;) . Yes, even small supermarkets had a lot of soda pop in Sweden hehe.

Wow so people will actually travel to another country to get beer? :zombie:

There's a big culture for this in Scandinavian countries. Well, in Sweden, at least. Many people would drive to Puttgarden in Germany's far north, with 2 ferry rides on the way, and fill up a trailer full of alcohol. Then, upon returning to Sweden, they were selling it well below the price it is sold in Systembolaget, but still making very good profit. Because they border security is so relaxed between Schengen countries, this wasn't all that difficult to achieve. I believe the authorities have cracked down on this more now, though, as the alcohol being bought was well beyond any regulations without proper licences.
