Dissection - Thorns of Crimson Death


Except for Windir, Dissection is IMO the best black metal formation the world has seen.

About Mastodon, I did not instantly buy into their genius work. Even if for a while I felt as if Brann was your typical boring drum hero. I now see the greatness of their musical vision. It's been argued, but I'm one to believe that there are loads of sludge elements in Mastodon's work. They sometimes remind me of Burst, even if the two bands have very different sounds, they experiment with the same spheres of music.

Thats interesting, now that you mention it, there really are some similarities. Both bands definitely love Neurosis.
