American or European Metal?

Without some American metal current Euro metal would not be what it is now... but if I look at my record collection I think I have about 300 European metal albums and about 30 American...

Europe has over twice the population of America so they're bound to win.

Maybe a European country against another would be better. Or Scandinavia vs America.

European wins, however there are some good US metal bands atm, agalloch, wittr, isis, btbam, novembers doom, mastodon and neurosis are ones I can think of off the top of my head that I choose to listen to, but theres heaps more from Europe.

My CD collection is pretty much split, though only half is probably metal.

As for my observation, Europe has far too many dual guitar harmony clones, and America has far too many metalcore clones, I dislike both equally, so I remain undecided. :erk:

If we made a Sweden vs America, Sweden would win, I hope! But America have got some good bands now but they all play "european" metal.

The US against the whole of europe is uneven.. Like Naboo said, "Europe has over twice the population of America so they're bound to win". A more interesting "shoot-out" would be Sweden\Scandinavia VS The US.

Of course there are some very good US bands, but in the overall, europe is by far the most musically contributing continent.

There are like 10 good european metal bands for each american band I can think of. Anyway, if you include South America and Canada, it goes to something like 5 to 1, but still a shitload more. So, Europe gets my vote.
Anyway, regarding Europe having more inhabitants than USA, i would think on it. I mean, Italy has got 60 millions inhabitants but only a single good band I can think of (novembre). There are no Spanish and no French bands I know, and that adds anoter 130 million people without good metal bands. So I think the whole Europe kinda balances Scandinavia, not the other way around.
And, anyway, Scandinavia would win against USA.
