Any Doom Heads?

150 bpm isn't really very fast

dark funeral probably goes into 200-240 bpm territory regularly (not that that makes them good!)

most black metal bands are at around 170-200 during the blast parts

Since I'm unclear on how rigid the definition of "doom metal" is actually supposed to be, would Spirit Caravan not qualify because of their imagery and lyrical themes, or is it purely a musical classification?

Everyone is fucking different, I don't even bother with this type of discussion tbh.

I don't really care, I just want some kind of tr00 person to give me the "in" or "out" because some people take this shit seriously!

You'd better watch that kind of language about everyone being different, I hear if you try to pull that shit around here Greeks come out of the woodwork and acuse you of living in a dream world :loco:

i've only heard random St. Vitus songs :(

all i'm going on with my appraisal of Wino is Spirit Caravan "Jug Fulla Sun" and The Hidden Hand "Mother Teacher Destroyer"... both great discs!

this will all change soon. one listen to whichever St. Vitus song I heard yesterday was all I needed to discover where Rev Biz aped their songwriting style from, and i like it.

Download Born Too Late and Live. Two of the best pieces of Doom ever created. Live is easily one of my favorite live records up there with the Sabbath disc with Ozzy, Unleashed In The East, etc.

as of late, my favs have been:

Mourning Beloveth
October Tide
Katatonia (first two albums)
Daylight Dies
Desire
Thergothon
Disembowelment
My Dying Bride
Bethlehem (Dark Metal can definitely be labeled doom)
Officium Triste
Despond

nope

the only band you've mentioned that is actually doom metal is my dying bride, and even then they're pretty borderline death-doom, with some of their songs and albums not being anywhere near doom

try fuckin cathedral - forest of equilibrium

Well then I must say, I don't like pure doom at all. Cathedral sounded meh, not my type of music.
