Any Writers Among Us?

I write lyrics.

(example:)
Waiting for the crash

In the sweltering heat The tension is rising
As we move like worker ants
Between concrete monoliths Rising to the skies

Every traffic-light an accident waiting to happen
Every single junction
A fistfight waiting to break out

Chorus
And like paralyzed dogs
We're just waiting for the crash
Just like gloryhunters
We're just waiting for the crash

In our office towers we compete for a paycheck
We'd betray our collegues for promotion or a raise
In the meeting rooms you smell the fear of degradation
On every highway it's a suicidal race

And we're all just waiting for the crash
Like gloryhunters we're just waiting for crash
We bring lunches and are waiting for a crash
Camera's are rolling while we're waiting for the crash

Break:
I sit here and pray
I can wait all day
When the Mothership comes
It's gonna take us all away

Take us all away…

This city is ready to explode
The system is heading for overload
People can't communicate their anger
So it's easiest to go right for the throat

And we're all just waiting for the crash
Yes we're all just waiting for the crash
Gloryhunters we are just waiting for the crash
We're all just waiting for the crash

There's some really good stuff around here. Here are some lyrics I wrote before I wrote ''Living In A Coma''.

Flying in a blue dream,
you fantazise about something that is not real,
lack of will and determination,
the harvester of sorrow dominates you

Bow to your sovereign,
no one here to block your pain,
too stubborn to understand the laws of humanity,
everyone offers you help,
and you preffer your living hell

Fascination clouds your head,
a barrier covers your true self,
listen bastard,
submission is your only answer,
this is the true downfall of humanity

''repeat chorus''

I think this one's pretty easy to figure out. Btw, i'm gonna start translating the stuff that Knight of the Templar wrote in a little while.

I tend to jot down things every once in a while. Mostly tanka poems, palindromes, that kind of stuff. Sometimes I try to write short stories but they usually end up pretty depressing. :D One thing I'm trying to achieve now is to get my website finally up to date. I'm out of inspiration for the moment, though. :erk:

I have those bouts of 'in-activeness' of the creativity center as well. It's maddening sometimes. You can go for months trying to write stuff and all that comes out is crap. Then suddenly the shit starts flowing again and you write three- four great ones in a week. And then it just keeps coming, you're thinking "wow, this is great!" and then it's off again for months.....*grits his teeth in frustration* :yell:

Anyway, perhaps you like this one:

On January 15 1947, the naked, bisected body of a young woman was found on a vacant lot in South Los Angeles. The body was cut in half at the waist and completely drained of blood. Additional mutilations to face and lower body were discovered, making this the most gruesome unsolved murder in the history of mankind. The victim was one day later identified as Elizabeth Short (22). Soon this case would become known as the Black Dahlia Murder.

Black Dahlia JB

On a cold January morning you were found
No one saw a thing, no one heard a sound
1947, talking movies were the new big thing
You were heading for the Big Time
Not knowing what your search would bring

A stunning beauty you were always dressed so fine
Desecrated, mutilated, your body left behind
Cut in half, an exhibition for all the world to see
Killing you wasn't enough, so you became a mystery

Elizabeth Short was your name
But everyone called you Betty instead
All they ever wanted was to get you in their bed
A career in movies was what you wanted to have
But Beth, what got cut short were your ambitions instead

Black Dahlia
Black Dahlia

Pictures of a starlet wannabe with flowers in her hair
Next to the gruesome pictures that would turn Hollywood to despair
The ultimate degradation you would suffer posthumously
Because of a birth defect you couldn't give them what they needed

They never arrested the ones responsible for this atrocity
Or was it all one big cover up by the LAPD
Fifty years later you're still a mystery
Your name was Betty Short
But you'll always be Black Dahlia to me

Elizabeth Short was your name
But everyone called you Betty instead
All they ever wanted was to get you in their bed
A career in movies was what you wanted to have
But Beth, what got cut short was your life instead

hey arglebargle,

yeah, the Jorn thing wasn't a concious decision... i just sort of write whatever comes out. I DO enjoy "Burn the Sun" quite a bit.

but one day long after i recorded that tune, i stuck in "Burn the Sun", and when the intro to "Heal the Waters" started, I said, "Oh shit!" lol

oh well, too late now to change it

anyway, yep that's me on everything, so thanks!

Hehe, that's the part I thought of, too. Anyway, you definitely have talent, dude. I enjoy 'Sea Of Stars' quite a bit, and I deeply respect you multi-instrumentalist solo musicians. BTW, Vanden Plas is one of my favorite bands, too.

To somewhat resurrect the thread, I'll say that I'm a writer, too.

ONE WISH

If I could have one wish

It would be for a crystal ball

Maybe if we could look inside,

The future wouldn’t seem so small

It’s this horrible tunnel vision

That affects all our decisions

That fills our lives with the sorrow of knowing today might screw tomorrow,

And a little clarity and insight would probably make it alright…or so we think

Maybe it’s better not to know

How tomorrow’s events will go

And we shouldn’t know any more

Of what tomorrow holds in store

Let’s just look before we leap

Or decide to put our foot down

And this little caution might keep

Our faces from falling flat on the ground

Tomorrow could be a disguised blessing,

So maybe it’s best we keep guessing…

Oh man, Amanda, your anthropological study was classic! Can I give the link to the band to check out once they get home? Bet they'd get a kick out of it.. :)

Hey Ultimate, I sense a combination of Darkane and Metallica for that one.

I am the superior sovereign
creator of pain
and so on ;)

Right on! hehe. The overall concept of the song came from Harvester Of Sorrow and Darkane's Submission. The chorus part was inspired by Rusted Angel as you may see :D

@Ultimate_Symphony: Hey man... how's my story going? It's kinda difficult to translate or you don't have big problems with that? ;)
Sorry, I haven't started yet. I've been pretty damn busy and I haven't been able to sleep well these couple of days. I'm gonna start today, though.

Hey Metal Chick! I loved your essay... we read "Body Rituals Among the Nacirema" in my sociology class, and I wrote something similar about metal concerts. Nice job.

Thank you thank you :) That article inspired you too huh? lol you should post what you wrote about it. Funny thing is that I didn't understand the real meaning of "Nacirema" until my teacher said it....I'm pretty damn slow. :loco:

Hahaha... I didn't get it either, and at the end it said, "Read Nacirema backwards." And the whole time I had been like, "Man, this is such an odd culture." I felt pretty stupid, lol.

If I can find the thing I wrote about metal concerts I'll post it. It was pretty sarcastic, so it might offend people. :)

It's difficult for me because there are sometimes i just utterly despise writing (from years of ridiculously shitty English essays draining all of the inspiration out of me), yet i want to create something completely epic and wonderful. When i do get something in mind and heart that pushes me to write, i'll take it as far as i can go, but unfortunately, it's very rare. And i'd love to write some high-flying dragon-slaying metal lyrics from time to time, but that's pretty much right out of the question, and a dream reserved for the fifteen minutes or so of re-re-re-re-reading parts of The Silmarillion on the shitter.
