That's all I wanted to know. Some examples of nu-metal.
Heh, heh...
See, I don't think Killswitch Engage are nu-metal. Or Evanesence. This proves something I was suspecting.
Nu-metal is a term applied to bands that the majority of metal fans dislike and think 'mainstream fags' do like.
There is no real numetal genre. It's jst a hazy cloud of smoke containing everyone's dislikes.
For instance, everyone KNOWS Cannibal Corpse are death metal, and that Emperor are black metal, and that Overkill are thrash.
Since a majority of fans dislike bands like Disturbed and Linkin Park, they have been dubbed nu-metal. Because they are a mixture of styles, streamlined so as to be accessible, and have achieved success. They can't be identified as anything else, like rap/hard rock/no solos/electronics/semi-brutal vocals/clean singing/angst-filled lyrics/gothic textures/cursing/mainstream music. So, they're just called nu-metal.
I personally like disturbed a lot, but don't likeLinkin Park. They were okay for a while, but i got tired of them.
The term should be thrown out. Because no one can agree on what it is...
Don't worry Perpetual Demise. I don't think you're an elitist. I just like some bands you dislike. but I find it really mean when metal fans just go an say nu-metal is shit, because i definitely like something about it, and yet I listen to doom, death, black, power, progressive, thrash, funk, hardcore, and a lot of other styles of metal. I wish people would lighten up.
