anyone here like alice in chains?

This seems to be a band that crops up often on here. I'll respond anyway. Yes good band. Dirt is amazing.

Dirt was my fave album for ages when it came out. I fell in love with the combo of heavy as fuck riffs and cool harmonies. Fuck the lyrics are full on though. Poor old Layne Staley. Apparently he was dead in his apartment for 2 weeks before anyone noticed. Go heroin! :erk:

Alice In Chains were great and I miss Layne alot. I haven't listened to Dirt in awhile maybe I will put it on tonight.

Great, great band. Out of all the shit that came out of Seattle in the 90's AIC were the best. Contraty to popular befief, they wern't just another grunge band. Layne was a great vocalist. Those haunting lyrics mixed with his vocals, damn. And Jerry and the rest of the guys are incredible musicicans.

soundgarden and AIC aren't grunge. soundgarden started out in the mid 80's and AIC started out in the late 80's playing hair band like music. hell AIC opened up for poison in 1990 and use to come out on stage during poison's set and jam with them. but yes alice in chains is awesome as hell

I grew up with AIC, and they had such an impact on me that I actually have the AIC sun tattoo from Dirt, LOL! Alice in Chains are probably in my top 3 favorite bands of all time, and Soundgarden is right there with them. Anyone who says Soundgarden wasn't metal has never heard Badmotorfinger. Ok, both bands don't play extreme metal, but in my opinion they were metal bands with a grunge attitude, but a good grunge attitude. Feeling over wanking.

IMO, Alice in Chains had the best songwriting since Led Zeppelin. Not until bands like Opeth came around has anything been so profound.

Alice In Chains were an outstanding band no doubt about it. Layne Staley
was an amazingly haunting vocalist. And Jerry and the rest just rule . Completely original music if you ask me.Nothing out of the so called grunge movement even compares except maybe Soundgarden's Badmotorfinger cd, and then it's still second place.
I saw an add in my paper that AIC are playing locally soon but just can't bring myself to see them w/o Layne.

I know what you mean, does anyone know the fill ins history? At first I heard Phil Anselmo was attempting but I heard it was a flop.
