When barely edges it out as the best track on My Arms, Your Hearse. April Ethereal is still a fucking brilliant song though.

The middle, off-time part is one of the best in any Opeth song.

Mikael's deep growls on April Ethereal are among the most evil sounding in the Opeth catalogue, and that riff six minutes in is killer.

i LOVE April Ethereal. that's one of my favorite opeth songs. unfortunately, my copy of MAYH is scratched, and April Etherial skips for like 2 minutes straight. It doesn't skip in all CD players though. I've yet to try it in my car, but if it plays in there, then i'll be happy. I can't find that CD anywhere, either. I really wanna buy it again with the bonus track(s).

I love the ending riff of that song....its just dreamlike.

MAYH is the album that hit me as a total coherent whole when I first heard it. More listens are needed. It is always regarded as the heavy album but is that just because of those inhuman screams on Demon.
Anyway the song is excellent as always.
Anyway Katatonia's latest has my attention lately. Just great stuff. Anacrusis would be proud that their legacy has continued. Pink Floyd meets metal even though Floyd always cures my insomnia.
