Yeah, I don't know where they've got their "emotionally scarred women" idea from. As a girl who loves it herself, I don't see the idea that some women just like metal so uncomprehendable. I own every Opeth CD except for Morningrise and GR, and listen to tons of other metal to boot. I take interest in its history, I educate myself, and am always looking to expand my horizons in the genre.

Also, ive found most women into metal are often more infatuated with the image/scene/social bearing it has, rather than a consentrated yearning for knowledge and growth with the music.

The idea that females aren't interested in the musical, innovative side of metal (as opposed to the image) is bullshit. I study at a conservatory and my interests "specialize" in progressive chamber/symphonic music, and I am a classical musician.

My theory could probably kick your theory's ass, hahahaha. But seriously. I personally know a reasonable number of women who not only appreciate metal, but also know their shit, and just as many bad apple, image obsessed guys who don´t.

Hey, I'm a Canadian, and I knew more girls from back home (Pacific-Northwest, not so culturally removed from the OC) who were into metal than here (I've lived in the Netherlands for about 7 months now).

I would still say that making such a gross generalization ("all girls who like metal had sexually deviant fathers") is not only utterly unfounded, but kind of... um... bizarre. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

I'd love to learn cello. I used to wish that I could backtrack and take that up instead, but oh well. I don't really like playing Flute in a symphony orchestra but it's awesome for solo/chamber music.
