Female. Complete Opeth fan since age 14. Ballet/circus art/yoga going girl. No drugs/alcohol, enjoys school, does not drown herself in black clothing... take that "stats"!!!!

Yeah, I don't know where they've got their "emotionally scarred women" idea from. As a girl who loves it herself, I don't see the idea that some women just like metal so uncomprehendable. I own every Opeth CD except for Morningrise and GR, and listen to tons of other metal to boot. I take interest in its history, I educate myself, and am always looking to expand my horizons in the genre.

Also, ive found most women into metal are often more infatuated with the image/scene/social bearing it has, rather than a consentrated yearning for knowledge and growth with the music.

The idea that females aren't interested in the musical, innovative side of metal (as opposed to the image) is bullshit. I study at a conservatory and my interests "specialize" in progressive chamber/symphonic music, and I am a classical musician.

My theory could probably kick your theory's ass, hahahaha. But seriously. I personally know a reasonable number of women who not only appreciate metal, but also know their shit, and just as many bad apple, image obsessed guys who don´t.

All that being said...

Here´s another girl who likes Opeth

on a MUCH more important note.. why would you want to FFS????
this is the whole reason men view women is such an objectified way!
i suppose it is your right to look like a slut, but frankly i'd rather not. i'm a person first, a girl second; and that's how i want to be viewed.

because behaving/ looking like a slut is fun :)
having said that tho, there's a time and a place for everything, and normally i just wear baggies and jumpers.

women from europe typically have more cultural ideals and views in a broad sense than american women in the first place, probably because america is lazy AND has no culture of its own really. this would cater to a more musicial wherewithall than the average american female "metalhead" which 90% of the time is just lashing out at their sexually misconducting father.

so im actually agreeing with you in a totally unusual way...based on the fact that you and i are from 2 completely different parts of the world, and know 2 completely different sets of people.

that would make you wrong twice now.

Hey, I'm a Canadian, and I knew more girls from back home (Pacific-Northwest, not so culturally removed from the OC) who were into metal than here (I've lived in the Netherlands for about 7 months now).

I would still say that making such a gross generalization ("all girls who like metal had sexually deviant fathers") is not only utterly unfounded, but kind of... um... bizarre. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

Hey. I play the Flute seriously, and the tenor sax just for fun.

Do you blow hard?
sorry, bad joke, don't kill me:erk:

but seriously now, flutes are cool...they go well with prog music like Camel or Pain of Salvation but you probably already know that so I'll shut up now.:worship:

lol they never will, not with lamer guys who say "omgz b00bs pics k plz thx bye"

boobs?who said anything about boobs? If I wanna see boobs I'll type nude in google and I'll get boobs.
It's nice to see some pics of the girls we're talking to.

I'd love to learn cello. I used to wish that I could backtrack and take that up instead, but oh well. I don't really like playing Flute in a symphony orchestra but it's awesome for solo/chamber music.

Hahahah @ paradoxile. I used to be able to swim nearly 50 meters (two lengths of the pool) underwater back in the swimteam days....that's hard blowing
