ARIZONA RACISM

Arizona has it right; all they are doing is enforcing federal immigration law. OH NOES, it's racist to question someones citizenship!!!!111one

It might appear to be racist only because the majority of people that would get sent back are illegal Mexican immigrants.

Fucking get in line like everyone else and earn your citizenship...

I actually do not see much wrong with this bill, if I'm perfectly honest.

*edit* I don't see anything wrong with not wanting children born here to illegal citizens to automatically become citizens just by place of birth - if I'm not mistaken, nearly all of Europe except for France works on the same principles of jus sanguinis instead of our practice of jus soli?

Being an immigration official must suck ass. It's all very well to say that people don't deserve citizenship, but to actually go and tell them to their face that they have to go and to force them to do it, I don't reckon i could do that.

Dudes, how is this going to work? I haven't looked into it that much but it sounds like anyone with colored skin is forever going to be hassled.

Something along what this guy says:

i say "fuck you" to anyone that thinks we're racist in arizona. I don't discriminate, i just simply hate everyone equally. Especially cocksuckers at walmart.

I love living here in AZ, and there's a part of me that just wants to go to a tanning salon and get dark so I can get asked for my papers for LOLz. Then I'll whip out my passport and say fuck you mr. po po man.

In CA, there really is usually an obviously visible difference between people who are illegal immigrants and people who are just Mexican, and I assume it's probably about the same in AZ. Maybe because I've grown up around it all my life, but there's a behavioral and cultural difference between the two.

I normally stay out of these...but living 20 minutes from the BUSIEST BORDER CROSSING IN THE WORLD (Tijuana), I have to chime in. I must say, HATS OFF TO ARIZONA! Hats off to Sheriff Joe Arpaio, a true American! The entire USA should have this law and a Sheriff who will enforce this stuff as good as Joe does. To the OP, Aprpaio even said: "Whats the big deal, I DO THIS ALREADY!"

What is so wrong for asking for ID? We need ID to get a hotel room, We need ID (passport) to goto Mexico these days. We need ID to buy booze. We need an ID to drive. We have to show an ID to do just about anything in the USA. Leave your ID for a week and home and find out how much you need it. We need ID to get a book from the damn library. What is so wrong with asking for ID? If you are legal, you show your ID, you move on. No big deal!

I believe that our south border should be 100% lined with military, who have orders to shoot as soon as somebody crosses the line.

That said, I do understand we have to work with those who are here in the USA. Having friends who are trying to become legal citizens. It is WAY too hard to become a US citizien -- especially those who do come here to work and bust ass working. However, there are WAY too many also who come to the US and scam our system. I do not think that babies born in this country should automatically become citizens.

I hate AZ for building golf courses and swimming pools in the desert and running AC full blast year round. Brilliant use of resources there. It's as dumb as building cities under sea level and then acting surprised when they flood. /offensive OT rant.

Well, If I was asked for an ID ten times a day I would be pissed, especially if it's because the way I speak or look. As for not having my ID for a week I suspect the total times I'll need it is ZERO. It's been a long time since I had to whip that thing out. (My last trip to my home state Cali) I buy beer at least every other day from a store that knows me. Never get pulled over and don't travel much. Now if I lived there I would have to deal with getting pulled over for the color of my skin. A walk in the park becomes "let me see your ID sir" perhaps several times. Not to mention the asshole cops out there just using it as an excuse. I'll be suing everyone.

Haven't been following this issue, so I'll stay out of the politics, but I do know that Mexicans know how to fucking party. :kickass:

Another personal observation: While I'm against illegal immigration for the mere illegality of it, most of the (white) people I hear complaining about illegal immigration (in my personal experience) usually throw in some sort of racist remark or anti-Hispanic slur, and complain about Mexicans stealing our jobs.

Shouldn't these people be angry at the employers of these workers, for not properly checking if they're a legal citizen or worse hiring them knowing they're illegal to save a buck? As Jeff pointed out, there's usually signs if they're a Mexican American or someone straight from the border. If they're standing in a group in front of Home Depot, and only one of them speaks partial English on behalf of the whole group, you might want to check their IDs before telling them to pile into your truck on the way to a job.

Another personal observation or two: I've worked with plenty of Mexicans at various jobs, and the motherfuckers know how to work. They bust their asses. I've never seen a lazy Mexican, ever. There have been countless times where I've struggled just to keep up and not feel like a lazy asshole working along side them. Usually after talking a bit with them too, even the ones with heavy accents (my friend is a good example, I can barely understand him, haha), you tend to find that they hate illegal immigrants more than most white people do. Think about it. They had to jump through all these hoops to gain their citizenship legally, and yet they still get funny looks and odd stares all the time because of peoples hatred toward illegal immigrants.

And as far as accents go (lol at Ahnold's speech comment), as cliche as it sounds, it's part of the American fabric. Should a southerner be forced to drop his accent when visiting the northwest? Or did I misunderstand something in the video?

LOL^ I do speak spanish. I could just imagine getting pulled over with my "Fuck Jesus" shirt. Cops will have a field day with me in AZ. Where here they can only stare at my stupid.

If you read the bill, they can ONLY ask for your ID if you actually break the law and they stop you for THAT (the original offense) reason. They CANNOT ask if you are going out for a walk in the park or getting ice cream like our "not-so-smart" President thinks.

However, there are many many CRAP laws that allow them to stop you; like not stopping behind the limit line on a stop sign, or no front plate, or a taillight out, or this or that. I am not saying it is right, but anybody can be stopped for those kinds of things. I have, and I am as white as it gets.
