Atonement

I like this song . I'm a little tired of comparing one Opeth song to another so I'll just leave it at that . Great song for a great album .

I like Atonement also, the imagery it gives me is awesome. Fucking good music.

Although I disagree to an extent with some peoples opinions of Ghost Reveries.
Obviously its an opinion so theres no right or wrong here...I understand that the 'new' sound is more mainstream but in essence isnt this the direction Opeth have been moving constantly? Perhaps not deliberately towards a more mainstream sound but that is the result.
However I dont think that this album is lesser than their other albums; they have developed significantly since Morningrise and MAYH which were fucking excellent albums, but I think that Ghost Reveries is definitely of the same calibre.

Theres probably been a thousand topics with similar shit to what Im saying but im new
sorry

Whats the main difference between MAYH and BWP?

MAYH has loads more differences to Blackwater Park. MAYH is no way near as drawn out as Blackwater Park. It is also a way more brutal and raw album than blackwater park. You also get the tons of effects and more Modern mix with BWP, and lots of computer trickry compliments of steven wilson. Blackwater park isnt as folky as MAYH either. If you think there arent main differences or these arent main differences. You dont have ears.

Perhaps I wouldn't word it the same as affinityband did but overall I agree with his arguments. BWP is much different than MAYH because, in my opinion, the sounds seems much tighter and the production is more compelling. Nonetheless, both albums are incredible, just in different ways.:)
