Atonement

I don't like judging Opeth songs, but I think it's better than HoW and Isolation Years. Definitely NOT better than TGC or BTM.

+1.. i agree wit dat,but iit.. nah, ya i do agree with you

The new Opeth actually sounds different this time around, so it sucks. I wish they would go back to the same sound that they had on Blackwater Par, Still Life, and MAYH. Those albums all sounded the same and were the best :Smug:

Seriously, this album actually sounds different, they finally changed their sound a little bit. Damnation/Deliverance were different but Damnation really wasnt the "next Opeth album," so you have to say Deliverance was. And the only reason why it sounded so different is because Sneap was involved. I like Ghost Reveries, and am glad they didnt release an album so similar to the others. Im not saying I dont like Opeth, but im just glad they finally released something that sounded unique enough to be set apart from other Opeth albums. I am very critical of my favorite bands, and im not saying I dont like old Opeth, im just glad I didnt get MAYH pt4 (Still Life and BWP being 2 and 3). Nothing against Still Life or BWP (Still Life is my favorite), but you have to admit that they havent changed much from MAYH to BWP, and that was 2 albums later.

It sounds like you have some eternal conflict going on.

No conflict. Just seems like someone didnt sense the sarcasm in my first paragraph. I just hate how everyone is like "New Opeth sucks, the old stuff is so much better" when Ghost Reveries is one of the only Opeth albums that you can easily tell from the others (excluding Damnation and Orchid/Morningrise).

Atonement is probably my least favorite on ghost reveries, aside from maybe TGC. Its still a very good song. I love the new album. It all sounds so fresh, and new. Very inspired. Yet, still keeping that old Opeth sound we love.
