Attractiveness of the "metal look"

For both the men and the ladies:

The pictures and conversation have caused me to wonder about what we perceive as attractive relative to our (for the most part) preferred music genre and the other fans.


A number of men, for example, have expressed a lack of desire for what they see as being "metal" women; be it tattoos, piercings, or perhaps just the darker style and image.

In contrast, the majority of women seem clearly attracted to what is seen as the the general metal appearance of men; long hair, darker appearance in fashion/image, and even tattoos and piercings, frequently lanky body shapes.

Men, are their qualities of "metalness" in women you do find attractive? Explain why or why not, respectively.

Women: are you only attracted to men who embody the metal visage, or do you find less obviously metal males attractive, i.e. short hair, non-tattoed, etc.

One is curious.

A person who says they are not attracted FIRST to looks, is a liar.
You notice people's looks first of all, THEN, the question is: do you like them?

For me, (as I mentioned here before) It's really the body language/ mannerism that kills me. I love it. I love the way people talk, look back at me when I talk, move their hair, laugh, eat, drink etc..
When it comes to looks: on guys, I like the metal look, but please, not too many piercing or tattoos or Zack Wylde type beards... I like the "classic metal head" look you can say, with the goatee/ long hair some piercing (LOVE piercing) tattoos I love too, (unless you are a walking poster)
I also think that every person, IMO should also "dress for the occasion"...
I wouldn’t want to bring any guy home to meet my parents that is wearing a Ragnarok shirt with their face cover with blood, leather pants and chains... y'know what i'm sayin'...
(I also have a secret crush on guys who put a LITTLE of black eye liner under their eyes…

When it comes to girls... I think there are many beautiful girls out there, but sometimes they wear/ do their hair over the top IMO...
pink hair combined with a see through shirt that says "bitch" on it...

I like women in general, many different types of women.
You can put two tattooed metal chicks next to each other, I'll probably totally dig one and think the other is " just ok ". I'm weird like that.

I do like girls that listen to metal, but I don't really find that metalhead look to really be all that attractive. I don't find it attractive when there are too many piercings (I don't mind ear rings of course, a tongue ring is fine). I also hate tattoos (I like a small tattoo on the hip, thigh, upper breast or on the lower back).
That metalhead appearance isn't really so tasteful or classy. Many girls I've seen that try to look all "metal" are either posers, completely overdo the look and tend to neglect their appearance (and often personal hygiene).

But I'm extremely shallow.

If a girl is hot, she is hot, no matter what the look or style. But if she has a dark/weird look about her, goth or metal or whatever you want to call it, and she doesn't overdo it, then I'll be really interested. "Everything in moderation" as the old saying goes. A couple of piercings here and there can look attractive, but a face full of metal just tends to look nasty, IMO. I'm indifferent to tattoos by and large, but once again, too much is not artsy, it's ugly. The Sunday comics aren't alluring, a woman's skin is.

EDIT: Also, women with undercuts = gross.

You wouldn't believe the girls I've gone out with simply because they listen to metal. I WILL NOT go out with someone if they don't share similar musical tastes to mine. If they listen to rap or emo, I steadfastly refuse, and It'll take some consideration for me to date someone who listens to country, ska or punk. Any girl who headbangs is automatically fuckin hot, and the metal look is the most amazingly hot thing ever (including tatoos and piercings. Except, no clit or nipple piercings. that's weird.)

I like skinny men with long hair. Tattoos and piercings are usually pretty gross.

I guess I'm kind of a standard metal chick (a real one at least... not one of those poseur sluts). I wear band shirts and boots and all, but I don't have black hair or tattoos/piercings other than ears. And I've never seen another woman with a patched jacket as mighty as mine.

I've been told that I dress like a whore but eh, fuck the people who said that.
