Automobile Maintenance Thread

Dude. Any car that was constantly produced for 23 years (1970-1993) can not be a piece of shit. I mean, they're old ass cars and not fancy in any way, but at least in Sweden, EVERY SINGLE car mechanic will know how to work them beasts, and spare parts are widely available/cheap, because as I said, it's probably Sweden's most sold car of all time... Probably if I lived in Canada I wouldn't buy one, and I probably won't in Sweden either, 'cause they'll be getting a bit too old when it's time for me to buy a car I bet. But solid, fuck yes

I think my sentence structure was weird- what I meant to say was that my father said that THIS particular Volvo was a run-down piece of crap. The model he says is in general very good, just not the broken one he bought! :p

One of the prettiest cars ever built was a Volvo with round headlights though, but this was way back when of course

All 5-speed manuals because automatics are for women and homosexuals. :loco:

Cooooool. I don't think I'd have a problem with a 245.... unless most of the 16-year old bastards who think the own the world, I have no desire for a high-end super expensive car. Maybe when I'm older I get something nicer like a Passat Wagon- but right now: I want a reliable car with good gas mileage that gets me from A to B without any bullshit. Simple as that.

Yeah that's true isn't it, looking at international car websites seems like automatics are optional or not offered at all. Most American cars (as in cars sold in America) you can't even get in stick, and even those available in stick can be next to impossible to track down. Fucking bullshit.

I actually learned how to shift with my mom when I was like 10! She used to let me do it while she was driving, and believe it or not- I actually sort of got the hand of it. I've been learning to drive on an automatic Passat, so I don't know how well I'll remember it, but it's better than nothing I suppose.

It certainly is true. I have, as far as I know, only been in two automatics ever, one was mydad's for a whileand it was an oldsmobile and the other was a fag cab with a fag driver in a fag stockholm.
Here, if you get your licence driving an automatic you can't legally drive a stickshift, but noone EVER does that anyway and here women and fags use regular fucken gearboxes like everyone else.

lolz I did that before I could walk (well now I'm exaggerating to be cool but I was very little) and sat in dad's knee and drove and shitz... I've also officially been Hell Mike Motörbike since I was 12 and dad got the Savage. I should also note that there are no cops around here I guess.

RARGH UM STOP FUCKING UP MY NINJA EDITS

I can do basic stuff - belts, filters, tires, did a break job once, and an alternator. but structural stuff...I'm completely ignorant and leave that to the pros.

I have never, ever driven a manual transmission; my dad and mom did in germany but after a certain point they only bought automatics, and that's what I've learned on, and never had to learn the other. Me = Gay.

Obviously you LOVE AMERICA.

When I was 15 my pappy told me "boy, driving a standard transmission is a dying art form" so he dun learned me. Then I didn't get my license until 3 years later and had to learn it all over again, haha.

hehehe .. speaking of drivers seats.

my first car, that 76 Regal, the drivers seat was stuck all the way in the "back" position. as you all know by now, I am 6'7" ... and a short Mexican guy bought my car. He happened to work in the Supermarket across the street from where I worked at the time.

Now ... short Mexican guy + seat stuck all the way back + hood as long as the eye can see = serious frontal crash in about a week after he bought it.

the headlights and grille were totally smashed up.

hahahahaha that rules. The tall grey truck above, for some reason hot wimmenz liked to drive it (yet another reason I shouldn't have sold it), but since it had a bench seat and said hot wimmenz were about a foot shorter than me, instead of scooching the seat up and smashing my knees into the windshield, I used a blanket to shove behind them so they could reach the pedals. :loco:

Bench seats = jeepin' made much easier than normal. :headbang:
