To all who think that 80s Power Metal, particularly US Power Metal, is the same shit as what you hear from Sonata Arctica, Freedom Call, Kamelot, and all of the swill that comes off as "Power" Metal today, despite the fact that it completely lacks any sense of POWER whatsoever: FUCK YOU YOU DUMB IGNORANT CUNTS.

Power Metal: Blind Guardian - Tales From The Twilight World, Helstar - Nosferatu
Thrash Metal - Metallica - Master/Lightning, Dark Angel - Darkness Descends, Slayer - Reign In Blood

Kamelot is pretty good fag! But Sonata Arctica and most of those other bands are complete shit.

I think your boys at Metal-Rules would prolly relate with you a bit more. Hell even most of those guys think Power Metal is shit too.

we need to have a talk, my friend. First Black Sabbath, then this?

I never got into power or thrash, I need more taming than him. They just aren't my cup of tea. I like some power metal the odd time, liek early Blind Guardian or something. How 'bout you help me, what's some good power metal that is just deluging with killer riffs. But I do love black sabbath.

Power and thrash aren't even in the same league. I'd suggest looking up some old thrash.

I think the only thing that power and thrash have in common is that they're both different forms of speed metal. Thrash being the heavier of the two, and power metal being the more melodic of the two.

BITD, I had liked what little I'd heard of Metallica and Raven. Then MOP came out, and I started paying more attention. I fell in love with Metallica walking around with a bunch of losers listening to "Disposable Heroes" on a boom box. Later, the video for Anthrax's "Indians" further broadened my horizons.

As far as "classic" power metal: Iron Fucking Maiden. For "modern" power metal: I pretty much re-fell in love with metal at an Iced Earth/Nevermore/Destiny's End show (props also to the Century Media Identity comps.)
