^ Yeah, though I wouldn't mind to hear them again with a nicer production. But yes I agree, it certainly does give them an awesome feeling :headbang: .

I like both ICS Vortex and Vintersorg, but ultimately I voted for the latter. I just like his clean vocals better. (However, when I saw Dimmu Borgir earlier this month, ICS Vortex blew me away).

I haven't heard very much of Garm's stuff, so I can't give an opinion on it.

Sometimes you need a not-as-good production so as to preserve the atmosphere and overall power of the music. Take Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk for example. With a clean, professional production, that album would suffer greatly. Same goes for Borknagar's earlier albums.

Agreed, I think that Anthems might actually sound fairly simplistic in a lot of sections with clean production...

For vocalist, I voted Vortex. He had the most harrowing, powerful voice, very operatic. Added another epic dimension to the band. His control is better than Garm, I find, and while Vintersorg's voice really worked on albums such as "Empiricism," I think that his voice is too... I don't know. I just think Simen is best suited overall. I think he could have done great justice to the Olden Domain, for example. I listen to "Progenies of the Apocalypse" and every time I hear the part with Simen's vocals I love it, but I also miss him in good ol' Borknagar.

VORTEX.

something about Vintersorg's voice kind of annoys me, though I do like a lot of his songs. I don't think he sings with "power," it's more, "reserved emotion." plus he's Swedish :p

Garm was arguably their worst, but still great. My fave Bork vocalist has to be Vortex. His work on Archaic Course is mind blowing. Mr V is a close second =)

Also, I wouldn't really say it was "BEST Borknagar Vocalist." I think it's more of a "favourite" poll as all 3 Bork vocalists are very different to another in their own right.

Well as much as i like Swanö´s voice (one of my top 3 voices in metal) Borknagar is one band he really wouldn´t fit in if you ask me. His voice have more of arena rock kinda quality, which wouldn´t fit them. I think Andreas does a great job in Borknagar, although i think his best vocal performances are to be found in Vintersorg.

I voted for Vortex. I love his vocals on Quintessence (especially on the songs Genesis Torn, Icon dreams and Colossus). :worship:

I like Vintersorg too, just in case. :)
