This post of mine here is basically taken from a recent post I made on
a similar thread on the ProgPower forum here on UM. There are some great bands with female vocals listed on that thread for those of you that are interested in expanding you horizons a bit more.
For those of you who aren't interested in music w/ female vocals or expanding your horizons, I could never understand why you troll onto threads like this one just to shit all over everyone elses' opinions and positive comments. To each their own I suppose.
The women of metal get much love from me, but the women of power metal are really where my heart lies. Not every female metal singer has to sound like she belongs at the opera, nor do they have to sound like a grunting guy. (For the most part, I'd actually prefer that they didn't sound like either of those.) Here are some of the better, more powerful bands with female singers, IMO:
Benedictum - heavy metal from the West coast, really powerful debut album, "Uncreation," with an excellent follow up "Seasons of Tragedy." This band is slowly working their way into my top metal bands of all time,

Crystal Viper - power metal from Poland, think Virgin Steele with a Leather Leone-esque female singer, hmmm... maybe I shouldn't have said that given Virgin Steele's reception at PP a few years ago, oh well, I think Crystal Viper is amazing!

Chastain - although defunct now, since I mentioned Leather Leone, I have to mention the fabulous and powerful Chastain, who later acquired Kate French (Vainglory) as their replacement singer after Leather left the business; David Chastain has moved on with his own solo projects and, sadly, it is unlikely that we will see this group reunited anytime soon
Vainglory - another great metal band with powerful female vocals courtesy of Kate French,

Shadowside - Brazilian heavy metal with powerful female vocals,

Triosphere Melodic heavy metal from Norway,

Blood Corps - these folks are a local for my area, but their energy and intensity, not to mention their singer's kick ass vocal ability, made me love them the first time I ever heard them ... heavy, power, melodic metal,

A Sound of Thunder - if Blood Corps' sound is a little too mainstream for you, their singer is also involved in another project that more strongly engages the power metal fan in me,

Power's Court - epic power metal from here in the US, I believe their singer might also be the lead guitarist and main songwriter,

A.D.D. - short for Analog Digital Disorder, I cannot get enough of this powerful hard rocking band from the suburbs of Chicago, they may be more on the rock side of things, but that hasn't stopped their debut album from being in my CD player almost non-stop for the last 2-3 months, the songs are catchy and the writing is beautiful and lyrics are the kind that really speak to a person,

Zed Yago - another great powerful band with female vocals that has been around for quite some time,

Dreamaker - Dreamaker begun when the female vocalist Elisa Martin, guitarist Albert Maroto and drummer Jorge Saez left Dark Moor in 2003, another beautifully powerful and melodic band that reminds me of Beautiful Sin,

Girlschool - who can forget the female Motorhead? Not exactly power metal but they've been kicking asses since most of the bands/singers I just mentioned were in diapers. Props to the women who paved the way!

I could go on and on since I live and breathe this stuff, but I'll take a break here. (Warning: Shameless plug approaching.) Check out the links in my signature for other sites where you can discover more metal bands with female singers.
