lol@ selkie thinking nfu has something to prove regarding recommending bands

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I thought NFU was being pretty nice lately, I wish everyone would lay off the guy a bit!

being a dick is overrated iirc. besides, we seem to have plenty of those here lately...we dont need another cook in the kitchen. im retired. so thanks demilich ^_^

edit: btw...check out the new underoath. some really interesting melodies and arrangements on it. quite ambitious.

yeah, i'll go for it! i got a new job so i'll have some money again! i have a long list of albums to procure, and i'm not even sure where to begin

actually, next step is a bit of prog and psych:
Jan Dukes de Gray - Mice and Rats in the Loft
Flower Travellin' Band - Satori
Algarnas Tradgard - Framtidden ar ett svavande skepp, forankrat i forntiden

I have listened to many, many samples and determined that these albums probably rule.

especially "Sun Symhonica" ... that song was not what I was expecting at all!

I've only heard samples. It sounds very dark and bizarre, more than a little like King Crimson. I don't know, I like drugs and lots of Japanese music rules.

I ordered it off some GEMM.com seller just a little while ago. A Japanese cd reissue.

It takes a wise person to know when you're beaten :erk::loco:

welp, when someone takes vast credit for introducing others to new music, I see nothing wrong with commenting on the fact that said person has mostly been dropping the names of bands known to pretty much any metalcore/emo/xXhomoxcoreXx scene kid. :loco: :err:

i havent really been recommending any scene bands. just stating them in the now playing or fav albums of 2006 thread. although i did encourage anyone willing to hear the new MCR. but other than that...you dont have a leg to stand on.

uh, do you have amnesia? that was a mere 2 posts ago.

that was mostly to me i assume because he was responding to my post and he seems to be on to the fact that I'll give pretty much anything a fair listen!

so i checked out a couple of tracks.. I liked "In Regards to Myself" and "It's Dangerous Business" better than the other two they have up on Myspace, but the vocals get dangerously close to AFI territory sometimes.

Anyway, moving on from the fact that a lot of people obviously dont like MCR and at this point it shouldnt matter to anyone - does anyone here listen to Bela Fleck and happen to hear the new Flecktones album? I think its possibly their strongest release, if you fancy that sort of music (which i do).
