Black metal or Death metal....

One you see a good black metal show live, you will be hooked for life. I was changed forever when I saw Emperor, Peccatum,Dimmu Borgir and Satyricon live, Blackmetal rocks harder than DeathMetal. Alot of DeathMetal sounds like my toilet flushing or my garbage disposal.

Death metal is good for thrashing about, and being a dumbass redneck to. Black metal has a very different aura about it which really has nothing to do with being a crazy headbanging fool. Much more moody, much more sinister. I prefer BM.

oh, and i also think doom is closer to BM than DM. You're not listening to the right doom or bm if you don't agree. The mood of both is VERY similar, WAY more similar than to death metal.

Symphonic Black metal is cool.
Old balck metal like burzum darkthrone and shit fucking sucks so bad seriously what are they thinking

Oh, yeah your toatilly right man... true 'balck' metal really is shit. You have to have a complete philiharmonic orchestra, operatic vocals, choir, bell and carnival sounds.. oh, those weird 'guitar'(sp?) instruments as well.

I don't really wanna narrow it out, but BM tends to have a lot more atmosphere.

And of course, lofi DM sounds horrible, lofi BM is awesome.

Well, I am not a huge fan of Darkthrone either. Wow, they were one of the first 'true' black metal bands. So what? They are shit compared to many other black metal bands out there.

I have the first 4 Darkthrone albums and only 1 of them do I really appreciate and that is Soulside Journey. As for the other 3, they merely take up space in my bedroom these days. Good for the fact that they helped the scene, but musically are piss poor.

I know I am going to upset the apple cart here, but so what. Because you are one of the first does not mean you are one of the best.

As for Burzum, musically, they are good, but because Varg is a prick, I wont go any further. Musically , I appreciate them, but I wont buy their albums, simple as that. He is still yet to redeem himself.

I don't like Darkthrone either, but Burzum are brillant, and not listening to someones music because their opinion differs from your own is just stupid. :Spin:

I'm into both death and black metal. Which one I listen to depends on the mood, though I probably listen to more black than death. Opeth clearly stand above the death genre to my mind, whereas in black metal I listen to Burzum (first three releases mainly), some early Bathory, Darkthrone (Soulside Journey is more death than black, but the next three records are some of the best black metal out there and Preparing for War is a fine intro) and other bands such as Satyricon (Shadowthrone and Dark Medieval Times are my favs), Akercocke (The Goat of Mendes), Vital Remains (Into Cold Darkness) and last but not least, Hellveto, who is brilliant in my book.

Are Bergtatt and Nattens Madrigal considered black metal or folk metal?

Death metal has been more versatile in the years since it's inception...from really tight rhythmic badassery to powerful melodic blissfulness. Black metal has some amazing moments and bands...but death metal has touched my soul more so in several aspects.

Let's see: Death metal consists entirely of nerdy wankers that play exercises as fast as they can. Black metal consists of poser Satanists who play as raw and shitty as possible. Conclusion? They both suck.
