Controversial opinions on metal

I thought it was Duality, although Psychosocial has slightly more views on YouTube and I know I've heard that title a lot as well. I haven't even listened to the latter tbh, at least not intentionally. I think I'll listen to one of their albums tonight.

It was either Duality or Wait and Bleed(I think it was on VH1s top 40 greatest metal songs).

I had friends who were heavy into the band but i never got interested. This might be controversial but I hated Metalcore more than Nu Metal growing up.

^^ lol

System of a Down were another really popular band in high school. I never liked them. I had a friend that was obsessed with the song "BYOB", God that song is fucking annoying. They also ripped off the "I am the Black Wizards" riff in one of their songs and claim to be huge black metal fans.

Shame your friend liked them when they already sucked. I hate that song too. Honestly, their first album had a lot of bad songs on it, but between it and Toxicity, there are a few pretty cool tracks. It is a bit orderly, but at best they portray a schizophrenic kind of feel not present in many other bands ive heard.

I can still get into this song:

I thought it'd be Left Behind tbh. When that video first came out it was on every 5 minutes on Kerrang and shit.

I agree. I find most metalcore to be more obnoxious and annoying than most nu metal.

Well I recall Duality and Wait and bleed being the ones people brought up most when i was a teen. Not sure if thats still true though. I dont think i ever heard of Left Behind or at least dont remember it.

Better marketing/more loyal fanboys. No one wears Priest shirts in public, Maiden shirts are everywhere. Maiden gets by on the whole "Radio always worked against us, never had a hit single, self-made" reputation. All thanks to Rod Smallwood.

Mostly it is because they are better though.
Not even close imo but seriously its a bit weird considering Judas Priest is considered more influential and actually have hits became radio staples. With that taken into consideration Judas Priest seems to be the better recieved band at the very least both bands seem to have even status in the metal world yet Iron Maiden has twice the sells.

You know even in school ive noticed ive never seen someone wear a Judas Priest shirt yet Iron Maiden shirts were quite common. In school and public that is. Dont think i even saw Judas Priest shirts in stores. I did however once see a Helloween Dr Stein accessory tag.

Iron Maiden have more albums I regularly listen to though. But I do think Judas Priest are the better band overall.

I guess I can dig that, though I'd say 80's Maiden only beats 80's/90's Priest by a slim margin.

I'm no big fan of Judas Priest's 80's stuff, probably because it so badly pales in comparison to their Godly 70's output.

When you're looking from that perspective, yeah, it's accurate to say Maiden have more consistent albums. I'm curious if anyone takes Priest's debut over Maiden's.
