Orphaned Land-who are defined as Oriental Progressive Death Metal were signed earlier to Holy records released two albums by the names of "Sahara" and "El Norra Alila" in 94 and 96
and several songs in the "Holy Bible Vol. 1,2&3" compilations together with Dan Swano's "Godsend".had a small brakeup and then returned after 7years of working on their last album "Mabool" which is a true progressive masterpiece.during 2004-5 toured with Paradise Lost and appeared in several European festivals with Bloodbath and Opeth. currently working on a new Album named "Or WarriOR".(got a forum here in UM).http://www.orphaned-land.com

Moonskin-new Israeli metal super group have contributed to The Death tribute compilation "Unforgotten past" with the song Embraced by words

Some French Bands:

The Old Dead Tree - Great goth-heavy metal. For me the best french band.
SUP - A kind of prog death metal with very cold ambiance. Excellent band.
Gojira - Technical Death Meta.l
Akin - Good goth metal band.
Conscience - Prog metal like Pain of Salvation. They've just released their first album but they're on the way to be a great band.
Adagio - Prog metal like Symphony X with a very talented guitarist.
Dying Tears - Goth metal with femal and male vocals. Pretty good, but they doesn't exist anymore.
Manigance - Heavy metal with very talented musicians, but the singer's voice is the weak point of the band.
Trust - Well known 80's heavy metal.

There's November's Doom, and Death... but Chuck's dead, so I guess that leaves November's Doom! And... erm... I think that's about it. =/

Machine Head and Fear Factory were promising, but they went off the deep end after very strong early releases. I guess the mid 1990s really sucked the soul out of American heavey metal.

The last few Fear Factory albums were quite good actually...and that's a word from someone who doesn't like Industrial all that much.

Any good Russian or Ukrainian metal out there?
I know "act of god"- they're opera death metal they're nice but not my cup of tea.
I know also "Korozia Metalla" which I thought were pretty good untill I figured out they're Nazis...You just can't go wrong with a song called "White Power".

Born in the soviet union and don't know any russian bands...that's shameful!
