Ugh. Do you realize that I was arguing with somebody who is extremely familiar with Emperor's music and who presumably is familiar with death metal and bm in general? You would think that a professional music theory teacher and blah blah blah, wouldn't know anything about dm and bm because they probably haven't even heard much underground metal. Now what if they were familiar with bm and dm? In that case, if they had any understanding of music, they would be able to tell there's very little in common between riffs on Anthems and dm riffing style in general.

ANTHEM RIFFS HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH DEATH METAL. ROCK MUSIC RIFFS AREN'T ON A STRICT PATTERN EITHER, BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN THEY SOUND ANYTHING LIKE DEATH METAL RIFFS. AND I KNOW THERE'S MORE TO DEATH METAL THEN SUFFOCATION BUT THEY ARE A GOOD EXAMPLE.[/caps]
