Is anyone else annoyed with the brutal death metal scene. This scene to me really just killed the style and really just made the style of music officially dead. I generally notice people online see newer texas death metal,etc. as being good and quality death metal. It seems everyone is into these horrible scenes in the states like texas and california moreso.

I do think as musicians we should still be somewhat obligated to the genre itself and history and know about it and properly represent whatever the genre is. Just because it's 20 years later or whatever does not mean old bands are not as signifant and they should still play a role in the style of the genre in the future. If not than genres are going to be called the samething and not even sound like what people see as the genre. Looking how classic and great the genre is you wonder how so many people can record the bullshit they do.

You have new bands also that say they are thrash metal and you wonder why they think they are playing thrash metal.

I think death metal can change and people can bring there own touch, but at the sametime there has to be limits because a genre is called something for a reason. 'death metal' should still sound like death metal. The first albums in a genre define a genre not newer generations of musicians and bands so why should a genre be tarnished just because people are idiots.

Now a days people think in flames,etc.. are death metal bands. Everyone is praising all these shitty new brutal death metal acts. I have come across people that honestly don't know what death metal is before 1998,etc... I have come across brutal death metal musicians that discredit the entire european death metal scene and say it sucks, but they like some shitty brutal death metal band like devourment. I have seen people think NYC death metal is better than old florida death metal bands or like some shitty brutal death metal bands and no older scene. There is nothing more retarded than that. Go on death metal forums and notice all the people into all these newer death metal and notice they know jackshit.

I cant't wait till this stupid scene just withers. There is generally nothing coming out that is even classic or nearly as good as old albums. I am a huge death metal fan and can't even expect anything from the genre. When is a US death metal cd going to come out that is even 5% as classic as monstrosity -imperial doom. NEVER

That also annoys me too and I can understand to some extent why he hates brutal death so much. However for some good classical modern death metal from the states deathevokation is awesome man!!

The only things you can do to help are : Educate the newbies, ( How is it strange that people new to a type of music make mistakes ) Form an Old School Death Metal band, and..
Don't try to force your ideas on people that are obviously just as educated in death metal but just have different musical taste than you.

The thing that really ticks me off. Monstrosity 'imperial doom' has not even been reissued and you have 1000 cds of the same sounding brutal death metal band coming out all at the sametime and now you have 5 thousand bands that sound like devourment and you can't even get an album you like and listen to it because now everyone likes all these new shitty bands and no one gave a shit your favorite album came out because everyone are trendy scenesters.

What annoys me more are the people that only listen to Extreme Metal.

I used to only listen to black and death metal, thinking that all the less-extreme genres were simply stepping stones to the extreme. But luckily I've starting to discover how wrong I was, thanks in part to your doom recommendations. Regardless, extreme metal will be a priority until I am completely exhausted by it, and I'm hoping that exhaustion will never come.
