Death Metal

A few notes from browsing this topic:

- The Red in the Sky is an amazing work but I am not so quite sure it is the absolute pinnacle of the genre. That being said it is, indeed, very close. Also I think the best song ATG ever wrote was 'The Break of Autumn' which came off of WFIKTBD, so I wouldn't be as quick to write off their subsequent work completely (though I do agree that the debut is their strongest effort overall).

- Sunlight Studios production is among the best in all of DM

- !T.O.O.H.!'s Order and Punishment is surprisingly good for modern death metal.

- Crimson Massacre's The Luster of Pandemonium is highly hated around here for no reason (at least it was when I brought it up before it was), one of the best recent DM releases in awhile. Check it out.

Anyway, I've sort of rediscovered Necrophobic's The Nocturnal Silence. I've always known it's one of the best Swedish Death Metal releases, and a few recent listens have not only confirmed this, but elevated it to top ten material. Brilliant from start to finish.

aeon (swe)

Aeon's pretty awesome, I only have one song though, it's Forever Nailed.

Anyway, other Death Metal I like:
Decapitated
Cannibal Corpse
Bloodbath
Akercocke
Anata
Behemoth
Carcass
Death
Deicide
Arch Enemy
Arsis
Dark Tranquillity
Eternal Tears of Sorrow
Eventide
Morbid Angel
Mors Principium Est
Zyklon

And Opeth if you consider them Death Metal enough, I don't want any shit about that though, please :)

Excellent album. I pretty much like all Necrophobic and find 'darkside' to be just as quality as the nocturnal silence. Both guitarists have great influence on me as a player.

Death metal i'm spinning besides the first Asphyx.

Death-spiritual healing
Massacre-from beyond
Hetsheads-we hail the possessed
Entombed-left hand path
Carnage-dark recollections
Bloodbath-resurrection through carnage,nightmared made flesh
Necrophagia-season of the dead. this is like the fine line between thrash and early death metal.
Morgoth-cursed(great old school german death metal similiar to older death and gorguts).

Awakening... is a pretty fun song to play. So is the title track

I "acquired" this one today, and let me just say... fuck yes! Awesome stuff. Are the rest of their albums this good?

Is anyone else annoyed with the brutal death metal scene. This scene to me really just killed the style and really just made the style of music officially dead. I generally notice people online see newer texas death metal, etc. as being good and quality death metal. It seems everyone is into these horrible scenes in the states like texas and california moreso.
