A few notes from browsing this topic:
- The Red in the Sky is an amazing work but I am not so quite sure it is the absolute pinnacle of the genre. That being said it is, indeed, very close. Also I think the best song ATG ever wrote was 'The Break of Autumn' which came off of WFIKTBD, so I wouldn't be as quick to write off their subsequent work completely (though I do agree that the debut is their strongest effort overall).
- Sunlight Studios production is among the best in all of DM
- !T.O.O.H.!'s Order and Punishment is surprisingly good for modern death metal.
- Crimson Massacre's The Luster of Pandemonium is highly hated around here for no reason (at least it was when I brought it up before it was), one of the best recent DM releases in awhile. Check it out.
