I like what I heard from Kataklysm from Prevail but was basically told the old and new Kataklysm is all about the same except the old stuff is more traditional DM.

Nah. I'm listening to Deicide's S/T and it isn't spectacular or groundbreaking but good enough to be enjoyed. Nice slab of Death Metal as I've stated in the Deicide thread.

So I whipped out the first Amon Amarth album, it's still sounding pretty good to me. It sound more purely Death Metal (Melodic Death, of course) than I remember, and Johan Hegg sounds quite good. I can't remember the last time I've listened to this album, really.
