Death Metal

I found an old Pestilence interview with Van Drunen and Foddis, kinda funny. Apparently the band who cancelled the show was Death.

Listening for the first time to Karelian Isthmus, by Amorphis (had to go back to the store and get a new CD, the first package was fucking empty ).

Some great stuff!! The only Amorphis album I actually knew was Eclipse, and it sounds completely different from Karelian Isthmus.

The Karelian Isthmus and Privilege of Evil are some of the best death metal has to offer. I don't really like any of their other material, even Tales From the Thousand Lakes.

What's Amorphis's newer stuff like compared to the older stuff?

Don't listen to her, Derek. It's more pop-oriented and I'm not sure if it would be your cup of tea. For the style they are doing though, it is wonderful. I would check out their MySpace and things before purchasing any of it.

Eclipse is fucking amazing

I'm not a big fan of the stuff between Elegy and Thousand Lakes, but obviously the old stuff was good, and I really liked Eclipse and Silent Waters. They're in a different, less DM style, but they're still pretty cool. Like Ozz said, sample before buying.
