Death Metal

I was posting about Septic Flesh or Septicflesh or whoever in another thread so I won't go too far into it all, but 'Titan' took me quite a few listens before it clicked, but 'The Great Mass' and 'Communion' are two of the greatest metal albums committed to plastic or whatever cds are made out of. Can't believe this thread just had a run of three or four Septic Flesh haters/apathetics! Outrageous!!1one

Eh. It's death metal for people that don't like death metal. (At least their modern era) Not a surprise it gets hated on by the crusty old farts here.

New Septicflesh is dullllllllll. No weight to it, what little momentum they build up gets ruined by the symphonics; they'll be making some at least marginally interesting death metal, then go into strummed rock chords over violins. Pass. I do need to give their back catalog a better listen soon though. Also a horrible band live. One of the worst death metal bands I've ever seen.

not true at all. I know a bunch of older death metal fans(myself included) that like their newer stuff too. But yeah, like i said in the other thread, Titan still hasnt clicked for me. I think ill give it another spin later today.

hahaha pretty unequivocal there. I just explained my reaction to their music in another thread I think (I seem to be posting about them in at least three threads!), but for me, it's BECAUSE of the "strummed rock chords over violins" parts that I love them so much. Maybe the 'death metal' tag needs to be dropped in its application to Septic Flesh. I don't really see it as death metal because it's obviously shifted a long way from those boundaries. Comments like the new album having "no weight to it" and "little momentum" that is "ruined by the symphonics" make it pretty clear what some people like morguelord want (and don't want).

I listen to a lot of classical music too, as well as doom and gothic metal, so I'm like a pig in shit with the mix that is the last three Septic Flesh albums.

Nah, its definitely death metal, REAL SYMPHONIC death metal. Not just a few bullshit keys here and there.

Decapitated

I have a feeling that the band has since distanced itself from the album as being too slow and melodic, but are there any fans of Dismember's 'Massive Killing Capacity'? I've loved that album for twenty years. Also, 'Like an Everflowing Steam' and that guitar sound.

Same. My farts sound better

I don't remember what this is about.

I like Massive Killing Capacity quite a lot, probably my favourite Dismember album. It's between that and Indecent & Obscene anyway.

It took me awhile to get used to, but newer Decapitated is pretty good. But nothing from them will ever touch Winds of Creation, which is easily a top 10-15 DM album.

Massive Killing Capacity is solid, as is most of their discog. But Like An Ever Flowing Stream is clearly their best album, and another piece of work that easily falls into the "top 10-15 DM albums of all time"category.
