Death Metal

These days I mainly go with the really old sounding bands like Pentacle and Sadistic Intent, maybe because all of those bands listed sound kindve boring now or maybe it's the really old and authentic sound of Pentacle and Sadistic Intent. Btw if anyone has recs for similar bands that would be great.

Say what you want about Deicide but have you heard their Feasting The Beast demo from 1987, when they were still called Amon? I don't think there's a heavier death metal recording from that time, it's almost confusing how they came to have the sound they did.

@CASSETTEISGOD yeah thats the stuff, Soulside Journey, Ceremonium etc. I guess as those bands become better musicians and gain access to better recording equipment it takes away the layers of dust and grime and becomes too sterile for my liking. Funny how things come full circle, it's weird I loved Necroticism but don't listen to it these days. There could also be modern bands which try to sound ancient but something isn't right, somewhere they don't sound authentic. Am I making sense :err:
@Slayed Necros that was great!

I know you didn't mean to say that Darkthrone got more clean and too sterile, haha. But I get what you're saying, we come from the same mentality a lot of the time.
No I didn't mean that, I actually meant to draw a line between Cromlech and the Ceremonium cover to show that there are atleast one or two bands that understand and can pull off that ancient sound.
I agree man, a lot of the time I'm impressed with your musical knowledge and obvious passion for your music.

Any bands you guys can point me to that sounds like possessed seven churches? That album has the perfect metal sound in my opinion

I haven't done a mega post in a while, so here goes. Here's a band that has that early Possessed sound, along some South American influence.

Here's another one, a new album, but has that old sound.

Arroganz, Lifeless, Reckless Manslaughter, and Obscure Infinity have an awesome looking split coming.
