So basically claiming Behemoth is the pinnacle of anything was just an empty claim? Newer Vader and Immolatiom both play a version of modern death metal that absolutely destroys anything by Behemoth, but there are also some 'tech' bands I enjoy. Death metal is best played old school, but not everything in modern death metal is crap enough to be trumped by the likes of Behemoth.

Newer Immolation and Vader are completely forgettable and borderline garbage. At least Behemoth has the occasional memorable song. Fuck Amon Amarth does a better job at it than those two.

Wow, I leave for two days and this thread descends into pleb-tier discussion and grown ass men fighting like 12 year olds. Get it together fellas. A few comments on what I've seen here.

-I've tried multiple times to get into TBDM, but i absolutely hate everything they've done. Trevor is one of the coolest death metal supporters ever, but his vocals make me wish I was Helen Keller.
-Deicide is a good band. The new stuff is a little bland, but their early material, first two albums especially, are essential listening.
-Even through all my explorations of the underground, Cannibal Corpse is still my favorite band. They were my first death metal band and nothing will change that. A lot of people call them bland or unoriginal, but I've yet to hear a band that sounds anything like their mid-era material, namely Bloodthirst, Gore Obsessed, and the like. Bloodthirst is the absolute pinnacle of the death metal genre, a perfect album in every way. Perhaps not the most dazzling or wildly impressive, but solid and compositionally glorious.
-Behemoth is some of the most boring tripe ever, I'm pretty sad that Nergal beat leukemia. He's an arrogant, pretentious hipster prick who I highly doubt even listens to death metal. I've always loved that DM is a genre for fans, and i doubt if he has bought s true death metal album in quite some time. Too busy buying gay halloween costumes to wear on stage. "oooh look how artistically evil we can be." Gimme a fucking break. The Satanist was insanely dull, andI wouldn't bother to wipe my ass with it.
-Immolation is one of the greatest bands of our time. "Kingdom of Conspiracy" was a bit of a letdown and somewhat of a misstep, but everything preceding that is untouchable. Majesty and Decay is top 20 death metal albums material IMO.

On a more personal note, Cassetteisgod and TechnicalBarbarity, stop arguing like faggots. It's a fucking music discussion board, if you get offended discussing music with strangers on the internet, you should probably just suck start a 12 gauge because you're a huge fucking pussy.
