What do you think of it? I think it's an interesting song, but I see why they left it out of the original release-it's not a classic. But I applaud Per's first songwriting credit-bring it on Per!:)

It is a nice track but I think it's more of "underground" than their other Watershed tracks also because it's not a classic, as mentioned upon me and it also doesn't fit the Watershed atmosphere or Opeth's generally.

Might be total bullshit...

i really like this song, i like it better than porcelain heart/coil/hex omega

I'm glad it wasnt included. It's like a static song, doesnt go anywere, but yet not hypnotique or meditative. I would have liked one more heavy/epic song on Watershed, but Derelict Herds sure isnt that one, it's probably the worst heavy/epic opeth song this far.

All this being said, I think it could've been a fairly good number with some re-arrangements and additional, slightly less static, parts.

admittedly, the opening riff is a little dream theater, but it gets so much better as the song progresses.

Although it may not fit in the record's atmosphere - its pretty cool and I would have probably preferred a song along those lines better than I like "Hex Omega" haha but infact the song has the kind of chord changes I have not heard since the "Blackwater Park" era :p

I do really like this song, but I can see why wouldn't have wanted to include it on the album. I particularly like the middle section, the part with the growling. Some great riffs in that part of the song!
