Do you feel as though you have a purpose?!?

yeah well that's cool and all, but what will your purpose once you're done with the army?

I'm not in the Army, but after the Marine Corps I hope to either do something with computer science, or demolition. I'm an Assaultman so my expertise is demolition, breaching, and assault weapons. Maybe work at a quary or something like that. Or just join blackwater. =)

Tully, you sound completely brainwashed, man. I understand that's the basic idea behind the military but seems like if we asked you what you ate for breakfast, you'd say, "kill". What kind of car do you have? "kill". How much you bench? "Kill". You seem to like it though, so we are happy for you.

And I somehow doubt that the knowledge you have about demolition, breaching and assault weapons qualify as an expertise, just yet... ;)

Well no shit, I'm still in school for gods sake. I may have worded it wrong, but I meant that my job is demolitions etc. and that is what I will be doing for the next 4 years, sort of like a major in college. If you asked a Criminal Justice major what they where going to do with their life, they would probobly say a lawyer or something similar because that is what they are studying. I guess I shouldn't have said 'demo expert', but yes that's what I am studying. My head is not in my, nor the governments ass.

Pretty much, yea. It's not brainwashing though, but it is very close. It's more a mental adaptation to being in an environment where your sole purpose in life is to kill human beings, civilians would call it brainwashing but really no one is forcing it down your throat believe it or not, it just becomes a normal part of your life. A lot of it is joking around as well, because the fact of the matter is a lot of my good buddies are going to be blown to fucking bits within 6 months, and laughter is a good medicine believe it or not. It's hard to explain why it isn't brainwashing, but it really is something different. This is all multiplyed tenfold by the fact we have just been in training for 6 months straight constantly surrounded by Marines and the Corps and not really much civilian influence, untill we get out into the fleet.

When it really comes down to it, it seems that if you are exited to be doing something 'normal' you are just excited, but if you are excited to be in the Marine Corps you are 'brainwashed' because the things you are excited about are so taboo and counter to normal thinking.

PS: 'What are the three things grunts do best?'
'I don't know SGT.'
'Drink, Fuck, and Kill.'
'Aye, SGT.'

Brainwashing FTW.

Brainwashing ftw.
