Doom Metal

Witchfinder General, Cirith Ungol, Orodruin and The Gates of Slumber all rule, get anything you can by them. Mythological Cold Towers is pretty shit, Darkspace is black metal. Centurion's Ghost and High on Fire are alright and I haven't heard of the other ones but they all sound like core bands of some description.

What are your opinions on the doom acts: Centurions Ghost, Wraith of the Ropes, High on Fire, Witchfinder General, Cirith Ungol, Orodruin, Mythological Cold Towers, Voice Transmission with the Deceased, Men in Search of the Perfect Weapon, Darkspace, Mistress of the Dead, and Gates of Slumber?

Centurions Ghost: Great band, genre splicing bastards - though I'm not sure I would call them doom proper.

High On Fire: Hype-mongous. Extrememly average.

Witchfinder General: Death Penalty is simply amazing, though their best tunes are Soviet Invasion and Rabies.

Cirith Ungol: Haven't heard too much; though what I have heard has been great. Wouldn't have called it doom though...

Gates of Slumber: Super.

Don't know the rest.

Carcassian do yourself a favour and check out Epicurean Mass by Orodruin. Excellent traditional doom, reminds me a bit of Forest of Equilibrium at times, really good stuff.

Centurions Ghost - Really good, great live too. I like their first album the best, the new singer has some hardcore vibes I'm not sure if a approve of. Not pure doom, but it fits here. For Celtic Frost fans.

Wraith of the Ropes - Don't really remember, I think they were alright, nothing spectacular though.

High on Fire - Pretty sucky, stoner is not my style

Witchfinder General - Great nwobhm style doom. Get both albums though Death Penalty is more classic.

Cirith Ungol - Not really doom but great band too.

Orodruin - One of the best active doom bands around nowdays.

Mythological Cold Towers - Can't say I've heard much but what I've heard hasn't impressed me one bit.

Voice Transmission with the Deceased - Not doom and sucky as hell.

Men in Search of the Perfect Weapon - Never heard, sounds gay.

Darkspace - Not doom but pretty good. Cool atmosphere.

Mistress of the Dead - Never heard

Gates of Slumber - Also one of the best active doom bands around nowdays. Not bad live either.

What is the best Cianide and Gates of Slumber album?

For Cianide it's either The Dying Truth or A Descent into Hell depending on who you ask. The Dying Truth is my favorite, but it's close.

I'd like to say Suffer No Guilt, but the The Awakening is also damn good. Great modern doom all around. I'd watch for their upcoming release too, The Conqueror

Orodruin is indeed a good contemporary Doom band, as noted. The Tolkien name draws me in, and the band executes nicely. I second Zephyrus recommendation of Cirith's 'King of the Dead.' A really fantastic, old school act. I really want to get a shirt with their classic logo on it, I love that shit.

Not really, they go between some different genres including sludge, which can be confused with doom (and even be doom in some cases).

Did the members of Scald make another band? Why won't they release more material? Anyways, a truly epic band that needs to be recognized for their talent and also NEEDS to release new music.

Nec wanted me to tell you since he is too much of a faggot to login right now that it is already re-released on vinyl and will be re-issued on CD eventually.
