Doom Metal

If not mentioned here already there are 3 greats I will recommend off of the top of my head.

Gravecode Nebula
Reverend Bizarre
Saint Vitus

Recommend those 3 for sure. Gravecode are some fiends of mine. Some of the best funeral doom out there.

Thergothon is a must, one of the extremely few good funeral doom bands if i may say so myself. Their album "Stream From The Heavens" is a masterpiece.

Void of Silence

Any good, and where should I start? I'm interested after listening to their myspace, and I'd like to hear Nemtheanga doing something other than Primordial.

Einherjar, Void of Silence are excellent. Go with "Human Antithesis" It's their only one with Nemtthanga. Look for a new album later in the yr from this band. Beautifully crafted songs.

I'm just more and more impressed by Isole the more I listen to them. A thing they should've done different though; they should have put Autumn Leaves as the last track on Throne Of Void instead of opening track. That song is so good that the rest of the record never really catches up with it, even though the rest of the songs are great too it feels like a stepdown after you've heard Autumn Leaves, but hey now I'm nit-picky.

I like how Johan Längqvist on the Candlemass 20th anniversary gig keeps apologizing for himself even though he does the best performance of all the singers.

He did say he had a cold...which makes me wonder how he would have sounded if he was perfectly healthy. You can tell that he gradually gained more and more confidence as the gig went on. I wish they would be able to work out a one time gig with him where they just play the entire first album. I would pretty much be able to die happy after that.

That would be awesome, he doesn't seem to like the limelight though. Speaking of Epicus, I wish they'd somehow include the synth at the end of A Sorcerers Pledge live, after the toms go into the beat when the guitars kick in with the slow "duh-dududuh-dududuh-dududuh" and the synth plays that melody, that's the finest fucking moment of Candlemass imo.

"Demons Gate" for me, especially after I translated it into Latin for the UMaine language department publication:

Insomnia praeter obibam mea fata:
Via antiqua odio circumfusa.
Cruce in manu trepidus eram,
Intraveram Daemonium portam…

Stygem trans in Ditis nebulas,
Saxea porta monstrat
Poenas iramque Tartara.

Malum priscum illic manet,
Limine Inferno,
Cuius in tenebris daemones.

Aetate atra arcessit,
Malificarum creata,
Quam peccator quisque veniet.

Regnum mortis malissimum.
Impietatis imperium.
O Diaboli Paradisum!

Venite! Eibon vobis aperit,
Chori iudicii vos advocant,
Crepusculum imos pectoris capit,
Siderum luces nigrescunt ad
Portam Daemonium.

"At the Gallows End" and "A Sorcerer's Pledge" are my favorites, although "Samarithan" and "Solitude" are both also really cool.
