Doom Metal

Doom Metal is a new genre for me. I'm slowly getting into it. I like Black Sabbath's Paranoid album, particularly War Pigs, Paranoid, Iron Man, and Electric Funeral. I like what little Candlemass I heard. I didn't really like Pentagram. I kind of liked Electric Wizard and Kyuss. But I'm very limited to what I like and know in Doom. Perhaps Cathedral would be nice for me? Anymore?

You should definitely get Sabbath's Master of Reality. Better than Paranoid, in my opinion.

Pagan Altar
While Heaven Wept (these guys don't really sound like traditional doom; they have a very melodic, epic sound, and go for chord-layering rather than riffs, with really clean, soaring vocals)

My Dying Bride is awesome, but I only have Songs Of Darkness, Words Of Light and The Angel And The Dark River. What are the other good ones?

Like Gods of the Sun has been my favourite since it came out, though they haven't really produced anything that's less than interesting, to be honest. LGOTS (as no-one in particular abbreviates it) has super-chunky riffage combined with weeping-into-a-lace-hanky maudlin moments.

Aside from that, The Dreadful Hours is by far the best of their more modern output.:headbang:

I've recently discovered Catacombs - 'In the Depths of R'lyeh' and its one and a half awesome to say the least. :kickass:

Someone at my job kept recommending me this band. I may actually check this out later tonight since this is the first time I've heard anyone else actually mention it.
