Of course, they dont even try to hide it. Listen to the 3:50 mark

Pretty decent track.

Mmm, I've heard this album. The songs can get tiring easily and there is an annoying resemblance to Dragonforce, but it's an ok record.

shitty album title aside, yes that's better than current bland shit-writing-DT. nowhere even near scenes from a memory-DT however.

Nice track. The 3:50 prog-ish stuff isn't my cup of tea, but some of the other riffs and guitar work are catchy, the singer has a nice classic voice and the chorus is indeed rockin'. It actually reminds a bit of Edguy and Avantasia with Tobias Sammet. Good stuff.

Edit: tapped bass arpeggios at 5:02...nice dual guitar harmonies throughout the song...really digging this several hours later, which is the real test. It just sits right; Brazilian bands tend to be great at combining technical proficiency with groove and attitude. Must be something in the water.

It sounds pretty good to me but way more like powermetal than Dream Theater. The syncopated progressive runs at 3:50 dont exactly ring the Dream Theater bell to me, thats actually something that started with bands like say Kansas anyhow, maybe other bands did it first but Kansas stands out as the first band that blew my mind with it. Agree about the vocalist, thats good singing. Also agree about being far better than Dragonfarce, anything is better than those _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ .

Bad sound quality on this video, but just to see, they are solid live (same song as OP). I'm impressed.

Every Prog Metal band Besides Dream Theater, Symphony X and Pain of Salvation always sound like a shittier version of those 3.

Rare Exceptions - Riverside, Adagio(sound like a mix between SyX and DT but do it good)

What about Fates Warning? IMO they sound like nobody and nobody sounds like them.

Fates, Savatage and Threshold all have/had their own thing going on but the thing is with so many leaning more toward the technical and virtuoso end they appear to be copying Dream Theater or Symphony X.

Still I'd say Intophagist didnt listen to this song because I dont see how it applies. This sounds like power metal with little instrumental bits more than progressive

They're not prog. They're an awesome power metal band from brazil. I was supposed to go see them in canada next week but... not gonna happen :(

This band fucking rules and anyone who says differently doesn't like to rock, nor do they enjoy power/heavy metal. Hibria is one of the best bands of this style to come out in years.

Fates Warning song writting is to simple to be prog.

bullshit imo, they have written songs way beyond anything DT, PoS, or even SX has written. i've never seen how wanking off with your instruments is supposed to be progressive. FW on the other hand, at least in their old days, wrote truly full songs that didn't function like ordinary metal tracks, but were more fleshed out and musical. how anyone could consider DT prog, who look like a bunch of incompetent posers by comparison, while not considering FW prog is beyond me.

yes that is a misconception about progressive music, it doesnt have to be all virtuoso business or complexity, thats just a current view because of the extremes the musicianship has come too. Another thing about Fates is their later sound, while a bit long in the tooth now was something at least I had never heard anyone do before which is being progressive in itself. Progressive is about the journey not how complex. It is more complicated because so many bands of various sorts take their songs along ways.

A interesting statement too being how Fates is considered amounst the few founding progressive metal bands.

Good post Zach, just judging by this song for power metal (not that I've heard alot) its pretty kickin without too much of the power metal things I dont like. Vocalist is killer

And Angra is more progressive than Pain of Salvation.

Many songs from Fates Warning's Perfect Symmetry, Parallels and especially A Pleasant Shade of Gray are unique in their own way so it really is progressive.

And Pain of Salvation has their roots in prog metal while Angra is more power than prog metal sounding. Hmm, just wanted to clear some things hehe.
