Farscape appreciation thread

Ive never watched a episode. I do laugh when I see the costumes as I am channel surfing. I am not trying to offend you, but it seems whenever I flip through the scifi channel someone is in some ridiculous get-up that I have to laugh at. sorry, Im not much of a sci-fi fan. Hell, I think the only scifi I ever liked was highlander.

You know jimbob I am kind of a black sheep on this thread. I hate comic books, sci-fi, fantasy, and horror movies. I think I am the only one.

That used to be one of my favorite shows.. I watched every episode from when the first one aired up through the beginning of the third season. I'm never one to tape an episode of a show if I'm not around to catch it, but I did that for Farscape, I didn't want to miss any of it. And for some reason about halfway through the third season i just stopped caring, heh. I still try to catch the later eps now when they're rerun, but I still don't think they're as good as when it first started.

I'll definitely watch the miniseries though

I never could get into all those Sci-Fi series like Farscape, Star Trek, Babylon 5, etc. Though, those shows usually have hot chicks.

I love the Sci-Fi channel though. The show Earthsea looked cool. And their Dune movies totally rawked.

Highlander was gay.

I've been on a huge X-files kick lately. Also been reading tons of Asimov. I generally don't care for sci-fi, but sometimes I want nothing but stories about sharks with frickin' lazer beams on their heads.

Never seen Farscape.

The tv show and the movie sequels maybe....but not the original movie! That is a very, very cool movie with a great soundtrack.

I never watched Farscape, but I don't really watch that much tv. My mother in law loved Farscape, but then she also loves shows like Star Trek and Dr Who.

X Files was good for 2 seasons and then it jumped a dead rotting shark. I think I caught a few minutes of an episode in season 6, and Scully was still saying something like "there are no aliens". Dumb bitch, she saw everything, even got raped by an alien, and still didn't believe.

The best show Chris Carter ever made was Millenium (first season). I need that on DVD, oh yes.

And the best sci-fi show ever was Red Dwarf.

I didn't like it too much. Dunno, Chris Lambert has one of the most annoying voices this side of Gilbert Godfried. And that his character didn't know he was an immortal was just dumb. And the villian turning out to be a leather-wearing nazi looking punk while Lambert became a successful businessman was just too cliche for my tastes.

ANd why were there sequels when "There can be only one."? Unless of course, Lambert didn't battle other immortals.

WRONG!

She started believing eventually, that was one of the great turning points in the show. This is one of three shows that I will happily collect all the DVDs for in the near future, even if The X-files go for $90 / season. :zombie:

By the way, one of the final episodes is titled Jump The Shark. :tickled:

The only thing that saves Highlander is nostalgia. It really was a crappy movie; great idea, just piss poor implementation. Never saw any sequels and only a couple episodes of the show.

X-Files was good when it was dealing with the alien conspiracy. The other episodes were only rarely interesting to me. They should make an alien conspiracy box set with all the episodes related to that and none of the others.

Star Trek: Next Generation was good from about season 4 on, with a few episodes of worth in the previous seasons. The original Star Trek just has the nostalgia factor. Deep Space Nine had some good stuff with the war in the later seasons, but it was hit and miss. Voyager always sucked and I didn't make it past the 2nd episode of Enterprise.

Farscape is the best television show ever, sci-fi or otherwise. That's my take.

ha ha..

i agree with you on highlander, though i saw bits of some of the 2nd or 3rd movie once, but i don't remember. I do really like the first movie, but not because it was well made (it wasn't) just because it's an awesome concept. No matter how horrible christopher lambert is, I always say he rocks just because of highlander.

yes.. X-files was lame when they were't dealing with aliens. Though a few of the eps with crazy monsters and such were entertaining.

I agree with the star trek comments. I probably watched the first 5 episodes of Enterprise and just gave up. Haven't seen it in a long ass time, is that one still even running?

hey jimbob, you watch Babylon 5? Thats a show that took me a while to get into. I couldn't appreciate it in its original run, but a few years ago when the seasons would replay constantly over and over I really got into it. Nowhere near farscape quality, but it had its moments.
and along those lines, Babylon: Crusade (or whatever it was called) was a show that I thought had some potential had it not been cut after a few lame episodes... it was starting to go somewhere near the end of its run.

Exactly Doomcifer. However, at least in the movies, if Sci-fi is well done, it can be very entertaining. I actually like the really old sci-fi movies like Forbidden Planet- they are excellent social commentary.

Yeah Highlander had a great idea, but it was poorly presented. Its more historical really than scifi- at least the first movie and the TV show. I always liked it because who doesnt want to be immortal? And the sword fighting was always fun.
