Female Fronted Bands

Some great stuff posted here already!

if you guys are interested in newer female fronted groups, please check out my band "SAMANDRIEL"! We have some unmastered tracks that you can hear on our myspace.
www.myspace.com/samandriel (Check out "The Mighty Seabeast" or "Trial by Terror")

Style is power metal with some bombastic keyboards, and lots of prog tendancies. Main Influences are Blind Guardian, Nightwish and Fates Warning. Our EP is being mastered by Jacob Hansen (Anubis Gate, Mercenary, Tyr, Beyond Twilight, Volbeat, Falconer, Heathen, etc etc) so the sound that you'll hear will be much more powerful than what we have up now.

Thanks!

And now for some old shit...

Ladies and Gentlemen, SPARKS featuring Adolf Hitler on the keyboards and the fugliest fucking female singer to ever grab a mic.

And from the movie Breaking Glass:

First song 1:27, second song 1:23 only because it sounded like dozens of other 80's songs, song three vocally sounds like Patti Smith who was part of starting that vocal trend.

You should check out Renaissance. Female singer with an awesome voice. They have this awesome album called Ashes Are Burning. It's kind of folky-rock with progressive elements and it has alot of piano going on. And it's from the 70's so it HAS to be good!! :D:D:D

EDIT: Yesterday I listened another album fron them called Turn of the Cards and it was amazing too! You should all check these albums out :D

a couple of contributions:

Glassmode from Italy, kind of modern gothic metal, released an ep, then disbanded in 2008

Drain STH from Sweden, active in mid-90s, sort of alice in chains go metal.

Skew Siskin, german motorhead-like metal band

Joan Jett <3

These guys might be onto something. Debut album out next month in europe and us, already out in japan. I really hope the album meets my expectations cos the vocalist sounds so unique and awesome.

Unique and awesome vocals?!
Too bad the same can't be said about the music.
She wasn't even that good.
I should probably stay out of this thread.

Well, compared to most female metal vocalists. That power.

The song has sort of a commercial sound indeed, but to say it's bad would be a huge exaggeration, especially compared to most songs on this thread. Personally I'd go as far as claiming that Shear has potential to be one of the best new female fronted metal bands if the album isn't bad.
