For those of you who aren't American

Eveybody that isn't american:

Go see bowling for columbine

Everybody that is american:

Go see bowling for columbine

If everyone here in the US actualy extracts meaning from that movie, some places here would be better to live in.

i did! and while i found some parts very interesting, some parts were just too, let's say way off leftist for me. sorry maybe i could explain this better in german.

1. thing is that "we(americans) are all imagining that black guys commit crimes too, we should just let them shoot us, because we enslaved them 300 years ago"! or what else was the point of complaining that the bad guys in "cops" are often black. that's just the way it is in american big cities! the white guys living in the suburbs and going amok and shot 16 people in school are until that quite normal law abiding citizens. so how show them in "cops"?
another impression that came over was that only white guys are fond of guns and have them at home! one wonders how all those gang shootings are carried out then! and the uncle of that six year old who shoot his classmate was black too wasn't he?

2. thing "we in canada don't lock our doors, even if we get burglared!" this is just ridiculous! i live in a town of 27000 people and the only murderer i remembered in 25 years was a guy murdering his parents and a man murdering his wife.
but everybody here lock their doors, because we do have burglars here. and why risk it? what for, to show i'm a worldly innocent dork?
those canadians, who said that they where burglared before, but still don't lock their doors are just stupid fucks! however, allmost no one has a gun here and you have to go through great pain and tests to get one and it's impossible to own a handgun legally unless you're a cop or something like that!
still, i got the impression that canadians are fools, sorry!

I never read more bullshit in my life. This thread is full of lies and prejudice. You people really need a reality check and to stop thinking that if you repeat something often enough it will become fact. I can sit here and rattle off bogus crap about every country that you people represent but I do not have the experience of living where you live just like you don't have the experience in living in the US so shut your traps. You people have no right or knowledge to say the things you say and the more you talk, the more your credibility goes out the window. This goes double for the Mr. Canadian who got hit in the head 1 too many times with a hockey puck! I may not be proud of everything about being an American but I sure am proud about a lot of things!!!

Oh and by the way, it's GWB you morons

well, that's the difference between americans and the rest of the world. i'm sure you know nothing about for example my country austria, even you surely know mozart and hitler. well, granted austria plays no big role in the world nowadays, but the thing is that most americans know nothing about the rest of the world. how often have i encountered americans who asked me seriously if we know cars in europe(where has the car been invented then?), if we have slaves over here(well, this one really confused us with america), if we shower, if we still go by couches and so on. that is my expierience with americans! no european would ask you: "do you still fight with the indians"? or "is the civil war already over?" and that is because we learn something in school aside of the history of our own country. also, unfortunatly as i may say, we hear about america all the time: american television, american products, all this plastic culture stuff swapping over from beyond the atlantic to us. now we have american hip hop on mtv, we have fucking mcdonalds, we have sitcoms, we have talkshows.

well, maybe i don't know everything about america, but i sure know more than the average american about any country in the world.

I think the thing with some/most of us Americans is insecurity/stupidity. We try to make ourselves try to feel the best. That is why I love the Japanese culture, it isn't like that. It's the way we are. I don't know, I'm drunk but still. Us Americans have good morals and all, but in the long run, we are all merchants.

quite normal guys. they're not really stupid, just uneducated and uninterested in learning something about other countries! that's why american tourists are always crying out "oh my gosh" when they see things which are totaly normal to us, like the ancient buildings in european towns, cultural events, customs or whatever else. they just don't have that over there!
