GMD Social Poll: Top Ten Films of 2015

The only accent that irritates me is the genuine New Zealand one, because I'm so used to watching movies and TV from overseas. Seeing Zoë Bell pop up in Tarantino films is jarring, especially when she has to have a line about how she's from NZ. Some NZ accents are several times worse than others too, as if being too lazy to enunciate well is contagious here.

I'm not bothered at all by someone else faking an NZ accent, eg. Anthony Hopkins in The World's Fastest Indian. Just makes it more entertaining.

That's kinda sad, lmao. Watching Once Were Warriors must be a warzone of irritation for you.

just seeing this. And no i didnt even know about it! :yow:

I view it as a kind of spiritual sequel to Training Day, and I'd be interested to know your opinion on how authentic it is in terms of the west coast culture it portrays. Apparently Bale spent several weeks hanging out with ex-cons and former gangbangers to get into the role.

Well yeah, but it's only one element and far from the most uncomfortable part about watching OWW. I don't normally hold realistic films in quite as high a regard as quirky or flamboyant ones anyway. The accent that sounds goofy to me works best in goofy films.
