I ignored them during the 90s and only really 'discovered' them a few years back. They are indeed one of the great rock bands out there....every one of their records is awesome. They've been a great find....I was shocked at how powerful their music is.

In fact, it surprises me that they achieved stardom at all....they're music is too deep to apeal to the masses (in fact, it hasn't appealed to the masses since about 1995).

[Creed] give christian rock a bad name.

They are one of the least original and talented rock bands to exist. I think Pearl Jam should sue.

Pearl Jam and Creed both suck.

Creed is so metal but they are not as hardcore as Pearl Jam.

Took my mom to Pearl Jam tonight and she fucking loved it that was unexpected.

If Pearl Jam is dad rock then dad rock is my favorite music of all time and I'm A-Ok with that.

I always thought Pearl Jam was the shitty grunge band in the scene and influenced a lot of shitty post-"grunge" radio rock.

Pearl Jam rules, they make excellent music and all of it is very emotional and quite technical at times.

Nirvana have some cool songs but AIC/Pixies/Pearl Jam are sososososo much better.

I dislike both Nirvana and Pearl Jam. And anything by Soundgarden excluding Badmotorfinger

I really like Aerosmith, have heard pretty much everything they've given out before Just push play, that album really sucked btw.
The best albums is without doubt the first four (Aerosmith, Get Your Wings, Toys in the Attic and Rocks) altough several of the later albums is good too Draw the line in particular although P.U.M.P, Get a Grip and Nine Lives also have their moments.
The thread poster mentioned the ballads from Get a Grip, these are quite good but songs like You see me crying, Janies got a gun, Blind man etc. is in my opinion better... Matter of taste i guess.

Their first four records are the shit. I'll admit I love Permanent Vacation, Pump and Get A Grip too but no where near as much.

Apparently doom metal...I don't think so; certainly not as a primary with nothing else. That's just the opinion of two voters, maybe if this album got more love on RYM we'd reach a better consensus. I'd definitely go with post-punk as a primary, and as secondaries maybe gothic rock, doom metal, and black metal.​

Ham certainly is delicious.

Just discovered them yesterday on the Corroseum forum in a discussion on early goth rock/metal hybrids. On first impression, you could take some of the songs straight from the album, market them as post-black metal or something, and easily fool people.

Invalidates a good portion of black metal's supposed innovations imo.

Yeah man, this is some great late 80s music. It really bridges my love of post-punk and black metal. It certainly sounds like they may have a hand in the upcoming black metal scene, but I guess it's easy for a little band from Iceland to be overlooked.

Huh... Went to look it up and they aren't even on MA. Rateyourmusic has very little info or ratings on them either. That makes me doubt their "innovations" had much of an impact on anything, probably about as much as that 60s psychedelia band that used shrieked vocals.

At least rap has some energy and attitude to it, which makes it better than the plastic-wrapped pop music that MTV regurgitates upon us.

I can get down on some west coast g-funk every so often. Dre (pretty much only the Chronic), Tupac, and Snoop Dogg. Notorious BIG is my shit too.

I hate straight up rap, like Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent even more than rap core.

Cypress Hill is the most inspirational band I've ever heard.

CH is the only rap I listen too. I think they have the most talent out of every rap group around. Plus, they're not uber-commericialized shit. They make great dark, stoner hip-hip. I think they also have some of the best album covers ever, especially for a rap band. Looking at the album covers you'd think they were a metal band:

My good buddy has a sort of hip-hop patch jacket, it's this over-sized rugged winter coat with Cypress Hill and Wu-Tang Clan patches, weed leafs etc.

I listened to some Cypress Hill whilst under the influence at a friends place and it still annoyed me. That was supposed to have been the best of the best.

Actually I can't remember if it was rap or hip hop. Oh well.

I really like this...very melancholic but with kinda happy guitar melodies. Very nice. The guitars are great and Billy Corgan's voice works excellently.

They were OK when I was 16, but now they have been so overplayed, I could live the rest of my life never hearing another Nirvana tune.

Overrated, but not bad.

I think the song writing, and depth increased with In Utero.

Honestly I really like In Utero. Beyond that... eh.

Or the music you like is so weak, spineless and reliant on mainstream success to exist that a dude in a flannelette can come along and wipe it all out with one hit single.

I just think that's kind of disingenuous when you choose the one Nirvana album that sounds the most like a Melvins record. Sure, I like Bleach but every other album Nirvana made bores the crap out of me while Badmotorfinger, Louder than Love, Dirt, Facelift, Bullhead, Stag, Houdini, Jar of Flies, etc. blow In Utero and Nevermind out of the water. By the way, Nirvana "bringing something new to the table"? I disagree. A lot.
