Hi all,

CQ reporting in to the home of Opethdom. Jeez it's been a hectic ride!

Up to a couple of months ago, I'd never even HEARD of Opeth. Accidentally downloaded "The Drapery Falls' one day. Hmmmm. Like it! What album's that from –*and just who the f@&k are Opeth anyway? Downloaded some more BWP. Gr8!

That's where it all started. Now I've got the lot! We're talking legit purchases of the Real McCoy CD hardware here! I mean, yer just gotta support a band as good as these guys or they won't make any more! On which subject - anyone knopw when they're gonna release a new album?

Herr Åkerfeldt o grabbarna are now competing for top spot in my album collection with Maynard and the lads from Tool (Triad, man –*you GOTTA listen to Triad from the album Lateralus. You know how Status Quo gets a slating for "three chords"? You just gotta hear what Tool can do with just ONE chord! Holy sheepsh1t, Batman! If God was a metalhead, THAT would be the Lord's Prayer!) But I'm talking Tool when I'm supposed to be on about Opeth…

Awwww what the heck –*I just can't decide. They're so different, but both so DAMNED GOOD!

I almost agree with you m8, but for one thing: Opeth and Tool are so different that you can't really compare them. Which of the two I prefer at any one time is purely a matter of mood!

Anywhoo, check out the 'New Album' thread in this forum (posted by moi) to..uhm, learn of the new album. It's supposed to be out in the Spring, but there are more details on over there. heh.

Would be cool if they toured together, most of tools fans probably wouldnt appreciate them though, if the reviews from the meshuggah opeth tour are anything to go by. I read they got booed, and tool fans hated them, which is really gay.

His question was a good one. It's depressing because, no matter how hard you try to keep the popularity from bothering you, it does anyways, and respect for it is lost, often times.

I never really understood being underground just for the sake of it, nor have I understood being mainstream just for the sake of that, but if a band is popular and makes good music what's wrong with it? If a band makes good music and is underground what's wrong with that?

The concept - Metal is not for everyone.

Opeth are for everyone, especialy since the release of Damnation. This kind of goes against... metal.
