Guitar Player's Thread

^agreed. altho this is probably my fav galneryus song he did:

those gallops and that sweeping section = <3

This thread is now about Syu.

But on another note, I've noticed that while I really like the tone of EMGs, and think they deserve more credit than they get from most of the critics, none of the tones I love most have come from them. Granted, the amp, player, and rest of the guitar itself, all make huge differences too. But nevertheless, my favorite guitar tones have come from guitars using passives.

Petrucci just came out with new Dimarzios that he supposedly used on the new DT album, the Liquifire (for neck) and Crunch Lab (for bridge) and I'm curious as to how they sound outside of his setup. Also been meaning to try Dimarzios for a while now anyway.

What?

I always thought you are a girl because of some of your comments about Alexi in the Pic Thread and some dialogues with Mystique

yeah, i cant blame you really now that you mention that.

The high(size?)-chart:

The Kid: 156cm
Eddy: 170cm
Me + eveningninja: 176cm
Ensi: 177cm
innuenD: 180cm
Delanoir: 180 cm
umosay: 187cm

Actually I failed with conversions,-fucking-foot-system-blows.. I'm really more like between 5'7 and 5'8 so I'll just say 171cm so that I can be 1cm taller than derp ololol.

ninja is totally having an orgasm right now with all this Syu
and yeah I have the Dimarzio activators on mine, I think they sound really killer when played thru a good tube amp. Even with my pod, I think I've managed to get some decent tones from the metal shop now, and no doubt my pu's have played a role in that. I mean...it is the pod after all, lol.

Now that you mention it, I have somehow that feeling too. And Petrucci's tone on BC&SL is really really good (besides on ANTR, dunno what happened on that one, it's really under the rest tone-wise imho). I'd kill for a tone like AROP or TCOT, which btw it's really hooking for such a long song.

Now that we're on it, I don't know how is it for everybody else (who likes DT), but for me the last two albums are fucking awesome, my favourites along with Train Of Thought. And Constant Motion is a fucking bitch to play :erk: I've leant the whole Forsaken though (besides the solo). I want to do a vid, but knowing DT/Petrucci fans it has to be flawles or I'll be flamed to death, so I'm not really sure if I want to do it or not.

In case someone havent seen, some new ESP Original models are out

ESP Ultratone 7

Tbh, i like all of them, Antelope and Ultratone more so than the two others, but i liked the take on the offset V's too

Edit: are my eyes playing a trick on me, or is hte Aero non-recessed? If so, it just turned 1000 times sexier to me than before

also would like to add that i'd love to own any or all of these, but thats just me i guess.

Obsidian C.(Keep of Kalessin)must be the best rhythm guitarist in metal today.

I already posted the first two, but nice catch on the others.

And you're right about the Aero having a non-recessed FR. It also has Seymour Duncan PATB-1 pickups, which are crazy.

Oh, and the Arrow has a shaved heel (at the neck-joint) for better fret access.

That would rule. I saw a video on youtube where Obsidian said that all their songs could be played acoustic if they wanted to. That guy has some major talent and has a very original approach to rhythm guitar, I think I read somewhere that he studied classical guitar for 4 years which influence the way he plays on the electric aswell.
